Oh and did my Silver Shadow die from Addisons Disease like your Chairperson was spreading about? No he did not. We have had a diagnosis from the vets. I wonder how many other dogs have been lied about.

I am not here to argue, I came on here to tell the truth about NI health probs, I have done that.

No I am not perfect, yes a curly tail is a fault you tell me what NI doesn't have a fault.

Im not talking of registration Becky, Im talking of KC breed standard accepted COLOURS (you said wrong coloured Poodles) black and tan/brown and tan etc.. Poodles are NOT accepted colours for the Poodle in this Country.

Ref health issues unless you have unbiased data and statistic then it can be deemed as hearsay, I have told you first hand what was said about our NIDs death and it was untrue.

All dogs have faults some more so than others. Surely only the best examples should be bred from.

She didn't this WAS why he died, but that it MAY have been the reason. I said on my post that there MAY be Addisons Disease not that there IS.

I am not bickering, it makes me so bloody angry that you all see the need to pick us to pieces, meanwhile, tida chairperson waits in the wings for her chance, cheyenne, i bet your 3 phone lines were red hot last night, asking sc what you should say, yes your dog that has just had pups has only just been hipscored, but she wasnt before she was bred from. One of your approved breeders, sold his pups at car boot sales, wow, great ethics. My own bitches sister, owned by your chairperson, also after having a litter was rehomed, by a go between to a man that knew absolutely zilch about the breed and was asking advice on a bloody lizard forum, he has now joined the NIS because he was not told anything at all about the breed, btw, she was rehomed without being spayed after having a litter without being scored, more great ethics.

It appears that the NI was doomed from the start - clearly no health tests were put in place from the beggining, pedigrees seemed to be ballsed up left right and center and your breed standard changes every year, and more has gone on behind the scene than people are letting on! To add to this, there are a million one different camps all disagreeing and slagging each other off. Not great is it!

The whole thing seems very dodgey. IMO its all a complete c*ck up!

Why is the gene pool so small, how long has the NI been in exististance? cant you bring in new blood (of the same breed) from abroard? or does the "breed" only exist in the UK.

I am afraid , that is all I can see too, there is no hope for a breed, when so many are bickering with each other....maybe it would be best to separate them into two totally new breeds, as if what we are seeing on this thread is anything to go by....the breed is never going to become established.

Sad really , as it seems ego`s are taking president over the good of the breed. if all that negative energy was turned to good use, and you all worked together, you would gain what you are after.

After having her first litter she was hipscored by her foster owner...her score was too high hence being rehomed....what about the puppies that she had......

Of course the breed isn't doomed. There are many many good quality northern inuits in the UK, Ireland and abroad. There is in my opinion absolutely no reason to add other breeds to the northern inuit dog.

I personally agree with you Jackbox that TIDA should not call their dogs northern inuits. TIDA have admitted themselves that they have a small gene pool which is the reason they are bringing in other breeds. Obviously this will mean that in the future their dogs will not be northern inuits and will look completely different along with their temparement obviously being altered as well. By still saying they are northern inuits is very misleading and riding on the back of the northern inuit name IMO.

The NI society gene pool is fine, Its tidas' that isnt as no-one has a dog with 2 testicles or others wont let them use their dogs, so they have already got Utes in there.
We have had a code of ethics for years and a list of approved breeders. And where the hell are all these dogs that have died at a young age from unexplained diseases, you are all so full of it.
our paperwork is fine too so where youve got that from beats me.
maybe the originators didnt get things too right in the beginning, but surely its now that counts, and we are striving to do things properly, none of you on here know of the slanderous things that have been spread about by the chairperson of tida, so dont make out she is whiter than white, none of you know a lot of whats gone on, including you, cheyenne and janie, you only know what you have been told by sc, her side of things, there are a lot of things I could bring up, but I wont.
Every breed of dog has health problems, we have no more or less than any other, we have never denied this, but they are predominantly a healthy breed.

Oh and to my knowledge, there is 1 dog with Addisons that is on the Isle of man and the one dog I know of that has fits was bred by the chairperson of tida, hence the Frontline smokescreen.

The annoying thing is it stopped me using Frontline, then we went to Scotland and I had to pick ticks off my dogs....I now use Frontline on all my dogs and there have been no ill effects.

tida is trying to stamp out the floppy ears eh, so why did sc have several litters out of a white bitch with a floppy ear and a patchy bitc with a floppy ear?
I wouldnt have bred from either.

I have to say that I don't think the NI is any closer to achieving a breed than the labradoodles. I certainly wouldn't let an unregistered bitch of any breeding near my dog if the breed was in the same state as the NIs. That would be adding to the problem and I agree with Borderdawn no reputable breeder would allow this to happen either.

I have some questions, fostering has come up quite a lot with NIs. Why is this? And why are people still breeding when there are obviously dogs needing homes? I know that it can be said for all breeds but this is about the NI and they have no standing as a breed as yet that I can see? Why is there so much disruption between the societies? I dont see how the NIs future will lie with the KC if you cannot join forces.
I cannot see any reasoning behind this breed at all, I have been told that people were looking for a wolf look alike without the mentality of the breeds such as the sibe and mal. Nobody can guarantee that you can breed out the traits that you do not want by crossing them with more trainable dogs such as the GSD. How many mistakes are going to be made with Dogs' lives before you finally think you have the perfect dog? Frankly nobody should be buying a dog for what it looks like, people need understanding of their breed and decent owners spend time researching and making sure that the dog they would like is the one for them and if it turned out that it wasn't they would look else where at something else. I would suggest that if the temperaments of sibes or mals are not for you then you look at another breed not create a new one just because you like the way they look. That to me says accessory. If i am wrong and there were other reasons for why the NI came about please enlighten me, although I would find it hard to believe when lots of NI advertisements for puppies call them the wolf look alike and certain members of the societies saying the same.

Who originally decided to mix the breeds in order to make a breed that looks like a wolf?

I have nothing against NIs, just the ethics behind them. Its not about snobbery with any of us and if you think it is you are mistaken but you do have to take in to account that you have bought other breeds into this by breeding from them initially. I know that I am personally concerned for several reasons, if vets are doing hip scores under other breeds the implications effect me and others with the breeds concerned. Secondly if an NI attacks somebody who's to say that it wont be called a sibe type or a mal type, because the NI isn't all that established and to a non doggy person will probably not be known of, thats when the more famous breeds get the brunt. You only have to see that pitball turned into pitball type and now everyone with a leggy staff or similar is worried that their dog will be next. Everytime a person gets attacked and the dog looks similar to that of a pitbull it is named as one, I know I dont want my breed to go the same way.

You is the societies involved so please do not take this personally. :)

Addisons disease is an Immune Meditated disease and is also linked with over vaccination, many studies find it to be to a degree hereditary, but not conclusively.

    GOOD post!

I have always questioned the "Wolf" bit when the word is NOT mentioned anywhere in the breed standard. I also always wonder why they are compared to them physically and mentally when they supposedly have as much to do with them genetically as my Borders do! Thats NOT directed at anyone in particular, its a general observation.
