    The Utonagan Appreciation thread

I have started this thread to talk to other Utonagan owners, or anyone who is interested in the breed. I hope other people will come and say hello, otherwise i could be sat here chatting to myself (just for a change)

So hello, I have a five month old Ute called Mack, who is an angel most of the time. he is currently eating me out of house and home and is growing into a big, handsome boy.

    Hi Moonstone :smt039

Great to 'see' you around. We just had a lovely walk - it was such a beautiful, crisp morning; Loki loves it when it's colder. He's moulting though, I'm drowning in dog fluff!

    Hi,

Mack loved his walk today, he has a girlfriend a ten month old GSD, and they love each other:lol:  I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Aw, that sounds so sweet. Loki used to have a playmate - a Golden Retriever but sadly he moved away. :-(

Does Mack like to play fetch at all? Loki loves to. We tried a couple when he was first back from the vets but he couldn't seem to follow the ring, but he was soon back to normal, chasing like mad :p .

We know the other Loki likes her toys, don't we? ;-) I keep meaning to ask Brandykins which is her favourite; perhaps she'll come along and chat soon.

Loki's favourite to play fetch with has got to be the fling ring - he likes hanging it from his bottom teeth and playing catch with it  .

Mack loves fetch he'll play until I stop, he loves fetching a certain ball and a toy pheasant that I bought them on a line:lol:   He never damages it, just trots back withit in his mouth. He loves games where he has to think, not interested in tug or rough games, just aswell really:lol:
He retrieves better than Meg (Her parents were both working dogs and she has loads of FTCH in her lines, she obviously didn't get that gene:lol: ).

He loves stuffed toys too, just carries them around. Frisbee is another favourite too.

Hiya, just been over to kennels to get my girlies as have been away for the weekend. Very cold out there and have divided 3/4 of a bag of shavings between them to top up their already deep beds.
My 2 aren't that interested in toys, Cariad still loves her babble ball (she is on her second) and Lona will occasionally play fetch with her dog ball, they have frisbees, tug ropes, and an old football, loads of things, but are not interested.

Hi TW - you must have missed them! Or maybe not  . Would they like to borrow a couple of Loki's coats to keep warm?

    Hello Tw:smt039

I have visions of the girls all cosied up in their house now, after making a big nest in their shavings:lol:
Do they go mad when you have been away for a weekend? Or are they used to it now.
I'm thinking of buying my two a boomer ball, they are supposed to be virtually indestructable, they are quite expensive though.

 they go absolutely mental!!! You would think I had been been gone a month!! It is a very small kennels they go to, and she went to let them out and they just started wandering up to the door, saw me and just set off!!!! Jumped all over me, and took me ages to get their leads on. They do get walked whilst they are there, but it is on lead, and they also get let loose in the yard for an hour or so every day as well. As soon as I set off back home down the track let them off for a good blast and they really enjoyed themselves.
It is strange really, it can be really cold, and I look out and they are lay outside like it is summer. I think it must be the double coat they have with the thick underlay:lol:

Hello Moonstone:) Made it! Good to see you, Linda and TW:) Aw TW your two beauties are gorgeous - love their coats - I get enough fur out of Loki I could make one for myself! At least, one of us is warm when I take her out!

Loki loves fetching her ball, even in the house! Also loves her ring - must be in the blood, Linda:) She is wanting me to play ball with her just now and is sitting giving me 5 (a paw) then when I ignore her, she knocks my arm off the keyboard!

    Good to see you all:)

Loki sends luvs to each of you and to cuz Loki, and all:)

    Thank you TW:grin:
Do you think I went abit overboard with piccies:grin:

Put some more of your beautiful girls up:grin:

Mack is very much a ladies man already, I dread to think what he will be like in 6 months. He has had another date with his playfriend today, he adores her:lol:

Somebody asked me today when was i going to have puppies from them, I looked confused and realised they meant MEG!! with Mack. I explained she was spayed, and why on earth would I cross a Goldie with Utonagan.THis is about the third time someone has asked me this now:roll:

Hasn't he changed though in the space of a few months, and those teeny weeny pictures have made me all broody for another little bundle of fluff.
