I am not quite sure why people are getting defensive and assuming there is hostility from the NI people. We were asked for an honest opinion, simple as that.

I can actually see it from both sides. From the owners point of view, they have a beautiful dog they adore and why shouldnt others want one the same? From the NI experienced breeders who are trying to maintain a "type" and dont want lesser/pet quality dogs to be bred from, that IMO is common sense really.

Ill be honest, I have so many stud enquiries for my dogs, it drives me nuts! There has NEVER been anything on my site that states they are at stud, nor that I breed dogs, and its ALWAYS the pet breeders and inexperienced folk who enquire, the experienced ones always telephone etc.. and discuss things.

I think in a developing breed, or indeed any breed, the BEST should only be bred from, showing is a way to gauge an unbiased opinion of your dog, with most KC breeds this is easy, with a breed like the NI its not so easy. Maybe, some of the more expeienced owners and breeders could post photographs on this thread to show the OP what they mean when they suggest her dog is not good enough to be bred from, perhaps she can then understand more and make the right decision.

I stand by my opinion, if I saw Kain walking down the road, Id say, look at that white GSD, lovely but could do with more bone. This photo of Inkileevas clearly shows BOTH dogs have tails curled over their backs.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that finds this comment off topic and do not feel that a group run by a troll that has repeatedly been banned from this forum should be brought into any discussion.

Elain, I have 13 N.I, Most are to standard, these are my breeding stock, but 2 or 3 are not everyones ideal and are purely pets, even though I love em to death, I will be the first to admit that they dont have stud or brood bitch potential, My old Timber is the sweetest girl in the world, but julie thinks she's horrible lol, I dont take offence, I love her (Timber not Julie) and dont care what anyone else thinks, I know julie meant what she said, but not to be hurtful, thats her way, she tells it as she see's it, she never was very diplomatic lol. Please dont be upset that folk dont see Kain as being a stud, he is lovely and as long as you love him, what else matters. As for you Janie, well all 6 of your club members are welcome to each other, I see Sandra still has her mouth peace on here.

Hi Inkliveeva,,where is the photo of the chappy,,,or a bit of vid,,lol, to be honest there is no such thing as a perfect dog, but list his weeknesess then his strong points, it could be that put to one bitch you would improve the pups, but put to another you wouldnt, I have this type of sinario with royce, I wouldnt put him to a short overly stocky bitch, as you may end up with staffie type pups, but to a fairly leggy bitch that poss lacks bone or needs some muzzle added,,if you know what i mean, so ya kinda have to match up the bitch to the dog,,,if he has all that she lacks then it could work, if he lacks what she lacks then disaster,,, but that said,,,mother nature being who she is you never really know what may appear,xx

Maybe someone could post the breed standard here and as Dawn has said some pictures of dogs who are used as stud. That way we can constructively give opinion on Inkaleeva`s original question. The rest of the discussion seems to be going round in circles.

As Borderdawn asked heres a photo of our bitch Sacha. She's about 18 months old in this pic. Sacha has won alot of shows. She has always been placed at NI shows and was Best Puppy at the NIS Essex show last year. This year she has had 5 RBIS and 1 BIS as well as many wins and places at Agricultural shows in Ireland in classes of up to 50 dogs per class sometimes.
