ok yer i agree it is a bit strong, the only reason i said that was so she wouldnt be tempted to breed from him.as for kain beeing lovely ,nobody is saying hes not, just that he is not suitable for stud.[which is what you asked in the first place.]
I saw a Flatcoat yesterday that had done really well in the showring but had a retriever head He certainly wasn't of type! Becky
He is a big, beautiful boy Elaine and I bet he attracts lots of admirers. I'm not too hot on appraising from breed standards but stud or pet, you give him a big hug (or the other way around ) and be proud of him.
I have kept my mouth shut but I can't do it anymore!!! Elaine.. he's lovely..(whatever type he is) BUT I am shocked that an NI owner is being treated like this by other NI owners...and that they are being given the same "stock" answers as non NI owners get if they ask questions..And it would seem there is plenty confusion if they people IN the breed don't know what "type" you are referring to.. And I have to say that Elaines answer of "just another expensive crossbreed" sort of sums up what everyone else will think if they get treated that way.. If someone who is already IN the breed gets treated like that then here's to the unfortunate people who are thinking about making that step!!! As for neutering.. I have a Samoyed who is a stunning gorgeous boy.. and I don't need to ask opinions, I could have used him at stud a million times over but never did.. and he kept his danglies until he was nearly 8 and it was only due to medical reasons that he doesnt have them anymore..
louise your entitled to your opinion, you dont know the northern inuit people, your not on are forum were this sort of thing is disscused ,elain by the way is.a question was asked on here and weve answered it ,the same as non northern inuit owners have. expensive crossbreed sums it up????well if thats what you think thats fine,no problem to me or any other northern inuit owner, northern inuits are here to stay.get use to it.
elain i suggest you go back and read what was said properly before you give your vertion of it.over a periord of time youve got several peoples backs up on the northern inuit forum not just mine, and like on there weve answered your questions ,so whats the problem, you asked the question...if you dont want truthful answerts dont ask for them.
Very good post and very well explained I couldnt have explained better. This is something that many people don't understand. Just because a dog IS the breed its supposed to be, doesn't mean it looks like the breed 'Should' !
no thats right I am not.. but I think its a very sad day when someone who has the breed gets spoken to in such a way!! It is also speaking to people like that, that will make them just breed anyway (not saying Elaine will).... Yeah well here to stay they may be.. but not before people start being honest and open and a bit more welcoming to their own people and new people and even people who just ask simple questions..
Gosh that sounds so familiar .....and they wonder why people will breed anyway or go to puppy farmers for a dog, when they get treated like that..........sound familiar Lou ? ;-)
this is very familiar, and can you belive it same people havin a go. whsat a suprise.people who have joined the northern inuit forum and come to are dos are made very welcome and not all have northern inuits ,they seem to like the plesant atmosphere and friendly people.so sorry to disagree but we must be doing something right ,are membership has doubled since last year, and at are essex show wehad over fifty lots of people camping and joining in the social events. but you think we need to bemore honest and wecoming????
i usually stay well clear of these debates... but i just can`t contain myself ... the reason sooo many people... left the NIS and their forum... is for exactly the same kind of thing that`s happening on here. It`s certainly the reason i left... i`ve never once received such hostile responses from the other group that represent the NI. Elaine... Kain is beautiful...
[ off topic ] This is not an NI forum, its Dogsey, and there are rules of etiquette here. If people, [ generally ], don`t want this to become yet another locked NI thread it might be wise to take a step back and a deep breath, plus perhaps re-read the forum rules. I for one am always disappointed that as soon as I see threads titled NI, my first thought is `here we go again`, instead of being able to look forward to reading what should be polite and informative posts :-(
I wasnt having a go at anyone at all Julie !!! I was just saying to Lou that the behaviour she was describing is what happens in our breed too, hence me saying to her, 'does it sound familiar ?' I didn't say I was agreeing, I was just stating about what she described !
I totally agree. I am so confused about the whole breed. I think they are stunning dogs but I would think again before getting one as there is never a clear answer about type. Everything seems to get so personal. This thread has gone way off topic and is sadly besmirching the NI reputation.I am so glad Fudge is a Fudge TYPE.
Inkliveeva, I too see Kain as very Alsatian looking so would also suggest forgetting about him being at stud, and to enjoy him as the beautiful and obviously dearly loved boy that he is as your life companion. I`m sorry that is not what you were hoping to hear but please know its a completely unbiased opinion, I have nothing to gain nor lose as NIs are not `my` breed, [ I do have strong heart ties to Alsatians which could be why I`m seeing so much of the breed in him ], and my humble opinion in no way detracts from how stunning he is as an individual in his own right
