Another fan here - I got my first, a sweet black-and-tan girl - in 1973, and have been a proud mum to the pointy-eared brigade ever since. Each has been totally different in character, but each have had that GSD drive, intelligence and loyalty.
Me!!! i have Always wanted one! i love long coats, blacks, sables, short coats, blues, reds, whites! i have found a breeder that i will get my first one off of, she will be a long coat blue sable or blue solid, her mum and dad are gorgeous!
I rescued our GSD last year. It was more therapy for me than anything else. We saw him in a rescue center in the same cage with a long haired lurcher, which, we took a shine too and took (the lurcher) for a walk. He was just what we were looking for in a dog - average size, easy to manage etc. We said we would "think about taking the lurcher home" that day and come back the next to take him with us. We arrived the next day only to find that someone had beaten us to it and unfortunately there were no other suitable dogs. Apart from a rather large, furry German Shephard ! I took him for a walk that day - and took him home with my family on a "one week trial period - no questions asked - bring him back if he is not suitable" type arrangement. He's still here !
Hi FluffyOldThing, Glad to hear that things worked out with Codey, was only wondering the other day how things were going Back on topic (sorry ) I'm a GSD lover (and former owner) too. Unfortunately, after losing 3 to genetic health problems I just can't bring myself to own another one. Still love them, and double take if I see one in the street
I am in love with GSD's. My first is Pippa, she is coming up to a year old now (nightmare), and I'm her mummy so I get all the attention from her. I also have a GSD x Collie named Bonnie (who has just dribbled over my hand and laptop lol), we got her on freecycle and is about 8 months old. Her "owners" had got 2 puppies (don't think they thought puppies were a handful) and they went on holiday and left Bon with a friend and then told them they didn't want her anymore so now she lives with me and my tribe. I want more, but we need a bigger house first dog crates take up far too much space lol
My son has two both females.....although the one is a big 'bitch' he's mad on them. Nanny loves them too (that's me) he has a BC too, the BC rules
Me! I adore GSDs. They are my first love. I have one lovely longhaired bitch called Flame who is 6 years old. I am hoping to add a longcoat dog pup to the family later this year
I have a lovely GSD, 7 years old, long coated, named Alfie. He's very wolfie looking and just adorable!
My Lola is seven months old now and her personality is huge. She is embarassingly devoted and loyal to me and it is this and not the fact she wont sit still and is into everything, which really drives my wife mad. Out of my three dogs she has already the strongest personality and her intelligence is quite something. I have decided that time permitting I will breed her next year when she has matured and I have secured homes for the offspring. Cracking breed, surpassed everything i was expecting
I owned a male GSD called Mason. Unfortunately he was PTS after being diagnosed with Idiopathic Aggression at 18months. He was the most amazing dog i've owned and his illness aside, he was as close to perfect as he could be! Still have a GSD X Bloodhound but hop to own more GSD's in the future!
shes a golden/red sable apparently - shes full on, but the most intensely devoted dog ive ever known - a huge personality - so different from my exerpience with other breeds
She's a real stunner nickyboy and she must be your first gsd then, and what a find, one as beautiful as her for your very first one. I'm bessotted with longcoats and Georgie is my only ever rescue and he's my 6th. If you were looking for "smart" you've certainly chosen the smartest (imo!);-) Be careful she doesn't outwit you, she's at the right age too!
