Did anyone see the English BT on Dog borstal, he reminded me of our old dog Sammy (who sadly passed away last year ) I thought Sammy was the most thick and stubbon dog born, but this one surpassed even him. I've never met a bull terrier who wouldn't come back for a treat. Ours have been too greedy to resist a sausage.
I saw it, he was not interested in his owner at all.Even Mick said he was the hardest dog he had ever had to work with.
he was funny - total respect for mic (as normal) fab trainer - that dog was so funny - so lazy - fab looking dog
Yep he certainly had his own mind, but he did look in good nick considering she couldn't walk or move him. The dane.....aww Benson, bless him, he got better though.
He was a bit of a dim one wasnt he Didnt think much of the trainers tbh they just stuck the other dog a citronella collar on now thats training
Actually watched that one! Cant believe there was no mention of the humping issue and maybe having Tank done!
I don't watch it but Ollie can be that stubborn lay down and refuse to move for even a treat. Bet that he was easier to move than Ollie is when he has a mind to stop.
Must agree - how can using a spray collar combat fear of strangers - was really sad at that Loved Benson the great dane - fell in love with him and lovely reward based methods used with him! And the bully - what a dog! Had to smile at Mic for once - said he no longer had a career after this dog! The girl did try though didn't she!
Yeah i saw it,What a stubborn little buggar he was ! I love BT's, You know, i did wonder whilst watching him if he had any hearing problems but nothing was mentioned about his hearing,I wondered if it was something they had checked out and eliminated as a problem, The dane was gorgeous wasn't he, I've found this series seems to show less of the training than the previous ones.
How cute was benson!!!!!! and that elephant he carried round!!!!! utterly in love with him!!! and Tank...we were saying why doesnt she get him done, that could help alot!!
Must admit I too wondered if he was deaf but no-one seemed to even consider it or mention it - so maybe it had been checked - just made me wonder when she was trying to call him on his recall - and he was totally oblivious to her wasn't he!
Yep he seemed to be lol !! My friend has quite a few BT's and i helped whelp and rear one of their litters with them for experience years ago, they really are a wonderful breed,I don't know much about deafness in dogs at all but there was something about him and his behaviour that made me wonder.I hope it was something they did check,
The Dane was fantastic, him and his cuddly elephant, he was adorable! Lynn as ever showed how good a trainer she is. The EBT had me in stitches! Poor girl and poor Mic, I thought they both did well, the dog just didn't care did he? Brilliant. As for the dog with the rattle bottle and the citronella spray.grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. The citronella spray should NEVER EVER NOT IN A MONTH OF SUNDAYS be used on a nervous dog...I was really cross.:-(
Oooooooo the deaf thing, would they not have checked that out as part of the initial health assessment?
I'm assuming they did A - but guess we won't know? But certainly did wonder about it - hopefully it was checked - can a dog really be that stubborn and ignore his owner like that? poor girl!
Mmmmm...poor girl indeed!!!!!!!! Thing is the dog was always put so that it was facing her and despite her waving her arms around like a looney he still went the other way, so even if he was deaf..she was still giving visual clues...think he was stubborn and dim!!!!!
Very true Ailsa very true - did you think perhaps they were expecting too much and should start with very short distances - I know its easy to be an armchair trainer but he obviously wasn't responding with such a distance so smaller steps first maybe? I just wonder why they don't try to make it easier for themselves sometimes. And see you too shook your head at the spray with Lola - my instant thought was NO! - surely that will make her think she has something to fear?
