Erm I ment to say I hope I haven't come across as a mal owner you have to worry about. Not have to worry about.!!!
Where is your pup coming from?? Has the breeders bred before?? Do they have adult dogs of either sex? (so they can answer questions based on expericence) Do they work/show? Do they have more than one mal living in harmony together (of either or both sex) How long have they owned the breed themselves?? Oh and a pic of mine at Xmas..
I worked herefor a little while it was mayfield but I left, due to some not so nice things happeneing there.I mainly worked at manchester dogs home why do you ask about mayfield?
I work at Manchester home for lost dogs, some time ago I had an enquiry from someone I think may have been yourself, that had worked at Mayfield. Mo edited to clarify, the enquiry was regarding my pupp list not about Manchester Dogs home. lol
I went in there some time back to get a lead, things have'nt changed, different name but appears to have the same practices, I never go into the puppy sales area it rubs me up the wrong way to be honest. Mo
you don't want to know what goes on in there, I did report it it but it seems nothing was done. When I used to work there(and it may be diffrent now) the pups arrived on a friday in bins!!!! They would pick what they could sell and what they couldn't. Some pups would be blind, some had eye's missing. They hadn't been transported in a nice why they would arrive covered in each others poo it was awful. They would sell the dogs to anyone it was the worst thing i've ever seen. People would bring the dogs back because they'd taken them to their own vets who had told them that the pup was deaf or had other problems. It wasn't a nice place at all.
I had heard about the conditions the pups arrived in, if I remember many many years ago before they changed the name there was a programme on TV investigating this store, and proved they bought their stock from puppy farmers etc. and yet even though all of this happened it still flurishes, people STILL go there to buy a pup, many of which end up in the home I work at because of behaviour problems or just plain and simply sold to anyone that has the money even if they do not know the first thing about dog ownership. Mo
I didn't know it had been on TV, when was that? Maybe me reporting it did get followed up, I left and reported it back in 1998 about September time.
It was well before then Vicki, I had my one of my samoyeds back then it was around about 1985/86 they kept the name for some time and then there was another incident and eventually they changed the name. Mo
Oh god I was only 4 back then lol, wouldn't remember that. I think I worked there about a month. When your new there they don't let you see the pup's arrive on a Friday only the manager and the team leader went to pick them. Like I said I was young and just left school all I wanted was to work with dogs, but as soon as I found out what the conditions of the pup's arrived in I left. What got me was that they had a vet to that would come round and I can't belive he didn't say anything or report it amazing!!!!
I beleive they are now selling mongrels for approx £150 each, at lest they are admitting they are mongrels, when I used to show my samoyeds, a woman also showed hers that apprently was KC registered bought from there, the dog had many medical problems and was the worst example of the samoyed breed you could ask for, she never got placed at a show, the dog was also quite grumpy to say the least, but this particular woman was new to showing, and just could not see that the dog was so bad, she openly said to me well I paid a lot of money for him so he must be a good dog I heard later that she had to have him put to sleep as his aggression got too much and he bit a few people. Mo
I'm afraid to say I did get a dog from there while I was working there, I didn't know any better I had to have him put down last year he was 8 he had so many problems that medication just wasn't working. In the end he attacked me and I ended up in hospital had it been my little boy well god knows, our poor Neo mastiff pulled him off and got badly biten to, afterwards Frazier didn't know what he had done. We had no choice but to have him put to sleep I loved him very much and i'm still very sad about it. He had all the kc reg papers but they don't mean anything. Before he started to get ill he was a fantastic dog very clever and loveing, but these are the risks people take when buying from a place like that.[/IMG]
I thought I had posted these before..but they seem to have been overlooked Where is your pup coming from?? Has the breeders bred before?? Do they have adult dogs of either sex? (so they can answer questions based on expericence) Do they work/show? Do they have more than one mal living in harmony together (of either or both sex) How long have they owned the breed themselves??
Hello, I see that your getting a dignifed new member to your family soon I have a 85lb baby Kiana my Malamute who is definatly another child LOL but she has been so much fun and my 22 month old daughter and her never are more then 3 ft away from each other. I actually brought her here to Germany from Alaska just to make sure I found the perfect Malamute. But you will love her dearly but they are alot of work which Im sure you have been told already just always have pockets with treats and she will always listen for food and invest in a very good vacum LOL because you will be using it but these dogs are amazing creatures but they are definatly not a Labrador or anything like and another thing when you take her for walks you will hear people say look theres a Husky or can I pet your Husky and you will always feel compelled to correct them, that this dog is no Husky not saying Huskys are bad but Malamutes are well malamutes LOL this is getting a little long if you have any questions just ask and good luck to you and i will try to figure out how to put a pic up
Welcome to the forum - Kiana looks such a gorgeous girl !! I also have a seal girl (and with a grey dog - that's him in my avatar ).
