Hi there I have a lurcher X ridgie. Her mum was the lurcher (GSDxGreyhound) and her dad full ridgeback, she was the only pup in the litter not to have a ridge! She doesn't really get much looks from the ridgie though and more GSD like in temp.

Does anyone have any pictures that would show size proportion. My wife and I are thinking about getting a RR and concerned that she will be too large to be an indoor dog. Thanks

Sorry, last snipit of a reply. If they can swim, how do you team them to fetch in the water, same methods as on land? Thanks.

I think some of the earlier pics may have been deleted from the posters own hosting site.
Patience, kindness, determination and a sense of humour:001:

Here is Beau - 18mnths in pic. He is 27inches to his shoulder and is roughly 98lb.

    In our static caravan:001:
For all he is a big dog, he is very calm in the house.

I know of a couple that swim but our boy doesn't, he will happily go into the water and go in deep but his preferred style is kangaroo:shock:

I would try and contact the breed club and go and meet some and speak to their owners, that way you will get a better idea of what the breed are like and whether they are suited to you and your life style.

    Hope this helps.

    LionHound,

Thank you for all of the feedback. What a great picture of Beau - he looks like a gentle companion. Re: his "kangaroo" swimming style...are you sure he's not an Australian Ridgeback? :) lol. I appreciate your help, we will definitely check out a local association for more information on the breed.

Will go with Lionhound here on training and would also add be consistent - but much the same as with training any other dog really. They are strong dogs and so you willl need to be confident of holding them on the lead. At the beginning we used a Dogmatic but do not need to now.

I would echo that yes Sydney is a big dog, but you would not even know she was around. She is so quiet and polite in the house. Once she has met and greeted visitors, she just assumes that they will always be there and takes very little notice of them - as long as they do not sit in her chair:lol:

And no she does not swim - she does not like getting her feet (or any other part of her body) wet !!

This is my girl - she is 4 and we would not be without her. She is adorable.
