I've been checking for dehydration and he seems fine, certainly not listless!!!
We're just measuring what water he drinks by filiing a 500ml bottles of water and using these to replenish his bowl so we can get a true picture of what he consumes. Was wondering if sometimes he drank because he was bored( bit like me at college). Lets face it pups try eat things just for fun and not due to their nutritional requirements.

Wishing you lots of luck and patience with the toilet training, your JRT will get there in the end.

I have 2 pups, now 9 months old and we still have accidents at times, no fuss made just clear it up.

We are all here to advise and support you at all times, and wish you happy times on Dogsey - a very friendly forum x

Hi Simeds  I have only just noticed your post.I hate to disagree with a vet but on this occasion I am going to.

I would never restrict a dogs water intake particularly if it is being fed on a dry food (unless there is some specific medical condition that warrants this action) and I am amazed that any vet would suggest such a thing :-o .

Dogs and some breeds in particular can get kidney and bladder stones (uroliths) and problems. Restricting water intake can increase the likelihood of this happening.

Here is an article about houstraining a puppy that you may find helpful  click here
