Hello everybody I am a new member and I hope I can at some time contribute something useful. But, today I and my partner Shirley are very sad as our sharpei Dudley 3 yrs old died last night from amaloydosis and we are particularly devastated as his partner Ruby 6yrs also died in june this year from the same thing. We had a male Shady who also died of the same complaint some 5 yrs ago so now all our dogs have died from this terrible sharpei problem. What I would like to know is if there is anyone out there that is a sharpei breeder that can honestly say that he has never bred a dog that has ended up with this problem as it seems to be quite widespread. We would like to get another sharpei as we love the breed so much but we are now afraid that we would have to go through this trauma again as it is so stressful. I look forward to your comments. Mike
so sorry to hear this, it is hard to lose a beloved dog anyway but when they are so young still, and to loose all 3 like that is just dreadful for you.
Many thanks , it is heartbreaking and I find the the house very quiet without him now, normally he would sit with me whilst I worked on my computer, he was a real mate.

Sorry for your loss The Rainbow Bridge By the edge of a wood, at the foot of a hill, In a lush, green meadow, where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run When their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land they wait and they play Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer in pain or in sadness For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed Their bodies have healed with strength imbued. They romp through the grass without even a care Until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back. Then all of a sudden one breaks from the pack. For just at that instant their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from the past. The time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt whilst they were apart, Has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever And then, side-by-side, they cross over……..together.
Welcome to this wonderful site. So sorry for your losses - hope you find a place in your heart for another dog, when the time is right. Hugs xoxoxox
Thanks Vicki, I will probably have another one as I have always had a dog in my life as I feel there is something missing in my life. I like your funny quotes some could be true ?!! I see you live in Croydon I was born in Kingston upon Thames but now live in Ramsgate Kent. Many thanks.
I am sorry for your losses:-( Please do contact Dizzy. She is an outstanding breeder, and I doubt that you would find anyone more knowledgeable about Shar Pei and their various lines.
Hi Shadowboxer, I have made contact with her tonight and will be speaking to her soon. Many thanks for your concern. Mike
