    There is no way to be certain without dna testing. The dog looks like he/she could be purebred.

    Likely to be what is usually called a Working Sheepdog if there are no pedigree papers.
    Is this a dog that you are thinking of rehoming?

    Yes, that's right. It's for sale for 450 pounds. I am going to have a look at him. Apparently he is a failed sheepdog at six years old.

    Everyone wants money for their failures these days, at one time they would have been happy with a kind home. They are a long-lived breed though. He looks so sad on that chain.

    My friend has just rescued a collie from a farm, left over from litter, been tied up for over a year, they were going to shoot him if not.

    She is experienced with the breed and competes in agility but says he is hard work, and strong eye and herding instinct.
