Dog genetics Help!

Hello I am new never posted before. But I am wondering how rare is it to have 9 puppies and have them be what I think are black seal or brown seal from 2 blue parents? I have black ones that shine blue in light and black and white that look blue and white?

Was this an intentional mating with the aim of producing blue puppies?

Depends on the breed which you don't mention.

In some breeds, the actual coat color may not determine whether it is blue or liver, etc. Sometimes it's the color of the skin (i.e., nose) that is what matters. So if your two "blue" parents don't have the genes to make their noses blue, then they wouldn't be able to produce blue offspring.

Knowing the breed would allow us to better work out what might have happened.

The mom is a bluenose American pitbull terrier the dad is a bluenose American staffordshire terrier here is the parents

Do I understand this correctly - you intentionally mated two blue dogs of different breeds in the hope of getting blue puppies.

Why would you want cross-breed puppies, whatever their colour?

Because "blue nose pits" are a current fad and sell for a higher price...

Sounds like one or both parents is not a true "blue" with the dd. At least one has a dominant D.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when people breed without proper knowledge. Lucky for the OP, she ended up with non-blue puppies. Had she managed to breed blues, they likely would have had a lot of health issues.

Please folks breed responsibly. Do so for the betterment of the breed and NOT the fatness of your wallet.

But they are cross-breeds, whatever colour their nose is.

American Pitbull Terrier + American Staffordshire Terrier = cross-breed puppies. And with all the Pitbulls and other dogs filling rescues and ending up in kill shelters, why on earth would anyone want to breed more crossbreeds.

I know. It makes no sense. It's just one more example of bad breeding.

I am constantly amazed at how many crossbreeds are being bred purposely and being identified as a color/coat variation of the purebred.

Years ago I met an akita group who was breeding akitas with Belgian sheepdogs and claiming them as a "longhair" coat variation purebred akita.

Long coated Akitas already occur naturally, although they are not breed standard and can’t be shown and I would say should not be breed

I would guess that both parents were Dd, and Mendelian predicted percentages are never guaranteed. You could always Embark dna test the parents to verify their status, but I really don't understand what motivated you to breed this litter.

Ok so I didn't crossbreed anything. They are both blue nose pitbulls as you can see in the picture I posted.

I was hoping to breed blue brindle. I never expected black, black seal, or black & white puppies. Because seal coat is rare there isn't much out there about it & am thinking pretty rare to have several in a litter

Omg! Look it up they are the same dogs & WHY does any breeder breed??? $$$$

Get off your high horses! This isn't my 1st litter & my puppies are in good homes & most still send me picts of them! & in good health. You want to sit there high & mighty when you don't anything about me or my puppies. I got on here looking for some genetic information
