    To "rescues"
Do you know why we (at work) use a line on a dog in the field? ALWAYS because that dog has no reliable recall and cannot be caught or will not come when called. To say that some of the dogs you or Mayhew rehome must be exercised in such a manner, clearly states they are NOT reliable and whereas you claim to be able to train a Husky to come back, some of the more regular breeds, like the Staffie, you cannot! I dont think you are in any position to TELL people what they should and shouldnt be doing with their dogs, when its their safety they have at heart, when you contradict yourself in other respects. i did see a Greyhound on there too, that should be MUZZLED when it is run loose, how fantastic for the poor soul that gets chased by it!

I was upset when I first read the thread and I don't even work for them, it wasn't just the one persons comments but a lot of the replies. I think they had every right to come on here and defend themselves.

NOTHING the OP says is bad!! She simply states that she seen the advert and asks if there is a miracle cure to get her own sibe to come back on command

    Where does that upset anyone?

Thats great to know cos I may need to ask you for advice on sibes at some time, I'm always willing to listen to experts.

I'm also glad someone has a bigger head than me, cos my shoulders are getting a wee bit tired ;-) Don't worry I never sing my own praises - just answered the question about what I own or have owned  I'm just happy tootling along on my soap box, trying to recover from my recent cancer treament and enjoying my dogs & other menagerie for the first time in a year

Oh and whilst singing my praises (I lurrve myself) by the way I am also a Registered general nurse - in fact last job specialist night nurse practitioner in head and neck surgery, oh and married to an ex uk and british sleddog champion and also have daughter who has also been scottish and british champion - but I'm no expert AnneUK 8)

I just want people to understand that it is not good practice to let sibes off lead - it is absolutely foolish

Again generalising, each dog is an individual dawn, just because we had one Springer that couldn't be trusted off his longline doesn't mean all Springers should be kept on longlines

If we moving on to singing our praises:

I worked as a vet nurse for 3 years (gave it up because of bad pay and my veiws on tail docking)
I am a qualified (human) Nurse, at BSC hons level
I have completed a degree in psychology
I am now a paramedic, and last week alone, saved two lives of ppl who were technically 'dead'

My volountary work includes homechecking and dog assesment for the RSPCA
I have also worked with a charity training assistance dogs and alert dogs (for epilepsy sufferers)

This is not the Husky club forum, what may or may not have been said elsewhere is not relevant imo, this is Dogsey and Dogsey members who have no idea what is or is not being said on another forum are not mind readers.

I have`nt yet found any direct reference by the OP against the Mayhew here but the Mayhew representation is doing a good job of trashing its own reputation and image, which to me as a staunch pro-rescue advocate, [ from which my comments are compelled by ], is extremely worrying because it might also cause people to think that other rescues would have such poor ethics regarding confidentiality as well.

If the OP was making a direct complaint and named a specific rescue thats one thing, right to defend is of course absolutely fair, however that was not the case in this thread.

....Or maybe the response was provoked by what can only be described as a very 'unique' veiw on husky Exercise, I.E, one not found anywhere else.

I really hate to do this, it goes against my very core to contradict a rescue organisation this way :? but its on the Mayhew site in black and white, specifying that the dog Basil who is currently up for homing should be kept on a longline therefore has clearly not been taught a reliable recall at this time but is available for adoption now.

No, you were generalising when you said Huskies were the same as any other dog and should be run loose, they arent, and they shouldnt, IMO of course.
