Need a bit of help checking Kaizen's hairloss

    Hi Ya'll,

Kaizen is at four months today and we've noticed he keeps scratching. Is it because of his fur blowing out or is it something we need to be alarmed (skin allergy or sickness?).

The ear does not look normal, have you checked the inside for evidence of mites or fungal growth? A normal moult doesn't leave red or bald patches. If in doubt, see your vet.

Our Akita is nearly 3 years old & I haven’t ever seen his affected by his moults.
I would say something is causing irritation. I would think a vets visit is in order. The vet may recommend a change of food. Dogs often have allergies to a certain ingredient.
It may be helpful to take a list of the ingredients that are consumed with you

I’m a big fan of coconut oil...do some research into how much you can add to the food & for now I would rub a little onto the sore spots
Let us know how you get on

We went to a 5-days vacation so our puppy was left alone with my sister. He might have not gotten much exercise, I think. We noticed he have longer nails and might have been causing the reddening of the skin when he scratches.

Would you advise giving it another week after cutting the nails?

    Thank you

I think you should get him checked by a vet as to why he has been scratching that ear in the first place. It looks very sore.
