    GsdSlave and CaroleC like this.
I’ll see if this works, it’s a link to a video from another neighbor about 1/2 mile from here of a mt lion and two very young cubs 5 nights ago.

Oh well to watch you will have to type it in. I’m not very tech savvy and doing this from my phone.

Somehow I morphed this thread from complaining about off leash dogs to talking about mountain lions, and tonight it’s really dawned on me that they are very much right around me! The picture above I could walk there in 2 minutes..it’s to the right of where I’m sitting and the YouTube video was taken to the left of me.. so they must be traipsing through here at times, maybe one time when my dogs barked.. MAYBE oneis on the other side of my property hunting the rabbits RIGHT NOW!!!

Apparently one is more likely to be struck by lightning than attacked by a mountain lion.

I don’t much follow astrology but my zodiac sign is Leo so I’m going to take it as a positive that they are around... and with two Akitas on the property I’m not concerned although my neighbors have a corgi and a chihuahua who have Kevlar jackets with spikes on the back..

That does sound a bit OTT and must be a hindrance to them when they are just mooching about the property. Still, it's nice to know they care enough. I'd love to see the Chi in armour if you ever get the chance to take a snap.

I hope I never find out... the mountain lion is probably bigger and definitely more agile and absolutely much more use to hunting... I think the mt lion would avoid the dogs and go for easier prey. I think my dogs are stupid enough to chase a mt lion but the mt lion is much faster and can run fast for much longer

OK, so she is only half a badger dog [Doxie] but she can definitely see a large dog off our yard, just by staring, snarling, and growling! But mice? [Please do not mention rats - I still bear the scars...]

Back to the off leash dogs... I’ve been trying out other places to walk my dogs that have less dogs and people. Today I went to a park with soccer (football to most of the world) fields and a baseball diamond where they have a 1/2 mile loop and a trail up a steep hill. Up the hill usually has dogs off leash so I avoid that. Sometimes when I go here I hike over to the fields at the high school but since it was school hours and they’ve just started back up I didn’t think that appropriate. So we start walking and there’s someone stretching in the field with their dog of leash but this dog payed us no attention. Then there was a guy with two off leash dogs that he was tossing a frisbee to. My dogs hated this as they do not like dogs running fast, be it like this or next to a bike or skateboard. They started pulling like mad so I bailed on this spot and walked back to my truck. When we were almost there a women let her two dogs out and pulled out a stroller and put her baby in it. One of her dogs started coming over towards us and I said to her “do you know there’s a leash law”? She ignored me and her dog got closer and I wasn’t happy. I yelled at her to leash her dogs and yelled at her dog to get away... she seemed really put out by me... the dog backed away as I yelled at it and she put them in her car. I got mine in my truck after a very unsatisfactory walk and I just stared at her while she was on the phone and I made a call while glowering at her.. eventually she put the kid back in her car, stared at me and left. By this time I had to leave to make it to physical therapy. They pushed me hard and I was able to let go off my frustration. I just want to be able to walk my dogs without unleashed dogs around as they are unpredictable. Is that too d*mn much to ask. We have leash laws, dogs are allowed unleashed in fenced dog parks and one beach in town. EVERYWHERE else they are to be leashed. Where am I supposed to walk my dogs... I’m so fed up. We will take a walk up the dirt road tonight, this is the only place I can be guaranteed of no other dogs off leash.. I’m going to blow my top at the next person who’s dog is off leash, and they are going to think I’m crazy because I’m SO MAD!! End of rant
