Hi guys, Just throwing this out to you all to see if any feedback may help. My akita seems to develop a scabby nose once she gets into the better weather. The front of her snout is fine, its the top of nose. I have been applying e45 cream as well as giving her antihistimines. Any other help would be much appreciated.
Hello Brian - I do not know what e45 cream is but I definitely would not use any cream [which could be dangerous as your girl could lick it off] or antihistamines as a self treatment when you do not know what is causing her to have a scabby nose. Only a qualified veterinarian can help you - I cannot and I do not know if there are any vets on Breedia. But anyhow, welcome to Breedia from Tikva and from me.
There are many skin disorders and diseases that can cause a dog's nose to become scaled or crusty, best to get the vet check her out. In the meantime sudocrem or something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dog-Nose-Balm-original-Wild/dp/B01DWEABSQ
Sorry @Brian Rodden if we have fallen short of your expectations. Unfortunately, even if we had a vet on board, remote diagnosis is not always possible. Perhaps it would be a good idea to refer to your dog's breeder, or better still, follow the original advice and see your vet.
