Does anyone else have a dog who likes to make himself "useful"? Trying to do anything below waist height is virtually impossible in this house without a 4 legged creature getting in the way. It takes me twice as long to do any weeding or digging in the garden and this is what happens when you try to change the bed linen ..... Jeeves - sorry I mean Gwylim - insists on doing it for you! Just needs a bit more shoving and tugging and then it'll be OK! At your service mum what's next?
Bless him. Some dogs just love to be involved, and I'm sure they think they are helping, even when it has the opposite effect. Eddie started being my assistance dog quite spontaneously when I was so ill with the effects of my chemotherapy. He can't get to pick a dropped object off the floor quickly enough, will go and find Daddy, (I know, cringeworthy pet woman), and tell him that he is needed. He picks up the stainless steel dog dishes after their lunch, and will collect small items for washing - though I did find a torn hankie in the machine yesterday. He used to take the kitchen rubbish bag out, but we have had to stop that one as the waste bags are just too flimsy these days.
My lot are useless. They would take full advantage of any kind of infirmity by running off with things. Where did I go wrong?!
