Just a wee update the Everest @ just shy of 10 months passed her Bronze KC good Citizen training award. Immensely proud, of Everest's (and my wife who generally takes her to training) achievement. 3 out of 8 in class passed and all without a treats during the assessment.
Well done to you and Everest! Onwards and upwards, I hope you are going on to d the Silver next. I actually find the Silver the hardest test of the three. I have always struggled with the Motivational Play in a test situation, and with Merry, who is usually too gentle to play tug, I ended up having to substitute some touches, twirls, and leg weaves. The ignore food is a nightmare too, but I do have a very greedy breed.....
Congratulations to Everest and to you Allan. My little horror would even fail the Lead KC Good Citizen award if there were such a thing!
I I chickened out of the Silver with Bogie. I did not have the skills to teach that dog to ignore food!
Thank you for saying that! Thingy mini-monster will ignore food [as treats] but do as she is supposed to do?
Congratulations to Everest and your wife. We don't have Good Citizen training over here, just BH (Begleithund) which is the preliminary certificate for IPO. Both my dogs completed the course but didn't take the test as their thick mum can't follow the commands which are all in Hungarian!
Thanks All, Well be trying for silver next for sure......the medal matches the coat better than bronze.
