Thursday looks fun. Hounds and Terriers from 4pm through till 9pm, with just a nice break for tea and to catch up with the news. I'm hoping to see some Beagle judging - there are some real crackers in the ring at present.
Lots of oversea entries this year http://www.crufts.org.uk/content/dog-exhibitors/crufts-2017-overseas-entry-figures/ Poor entry for Gsd's
I have mixed feelings about the huge distances some of these dogs travel. Five from China, and two from Indonesia, for example. It is good to have the chance compare some of the best dogs in the world in the flesh, and travel has proved beneficial in developing international friendships, and expanding gene pools. I know these MultiChamp dogs are well used to a life on the road, but can't help thinking that it's not as rewarding as having a comfortable home life, and your own spot in the sun. Re. GSD entry. Do you have an English type judge this year?
Vee - is that the GSD straight back judge? Sorry if I am saying the wrong thing but for me a GSD should be a straight back dog. Not that I know anything about the breed, but I just do not like the look of the other type. Please forgive my ignorance.
No It is the type that fits as close as possible to the international standard as set out by the SV and WUSV, and approved by the FCI.
Same here! The only problem is for some reason I can't get any sound on my laptop which is VERY annoying! One day it was there and the next day it had gone. And I can't seem to get it back again!
@GsdSlave - Thank you Vee - I never know which is the "correct" one - only straight back ones that I ever knew.years back.when they were still called Alsatians. @Pork1epe1 - I have a PC not a laptop but usually have the speakers off unless I want to listen to music. And for some unknown reason the whoever it is on Crufts, makes me want to scream.
The Official live stream from Crufts is on www.Crufts.org.uk/content/whats-on/watch-crufts-live Lots of Activity coverage. Breed judging - Tomorrow will be Hounds and Terriers Friday, Utility and Toy groups Saturday, Gundogs Sunday, Working, Pastoral and Best in Show.
I think Robin Newhouse began in Collies, but he gives CC's in all of the Pastoral Breeds, and several Working breeds too. You could look him up on the KC's Find a Judge list for the exact breeds.
