Cool and bright today. We took the dogs in the wood at the end of our road today. It is a little more like slippery mountaineering than walking, but it avoids the keep fit bikers, and the once a week dog walkers. To get to the point, there are buds on all tree species now, and the bluebell bulbs have shot up 2 - 3 inches! Spring is definitely on it's way folks, I can feel it in my water, (but hardly anywhere else!).
Foggy, dank and slushy! Georgina looks as though she's been dipped in chocolate. Her legs, chest and tummy are covered with a thick coat of mud which for the moment I can't do much about because for some unknown reason I've got no water! Mind you she does match the tiles in my house which are also cream with a mud coloured pattern! Heho!
It is not always 100% accurate for forecasts, but near as enough to be the only weather site I use - has lots of other info on it as well. It will show daily, hour by hour, 24 hours and weekly forecasts, etc etc - well worth having a look at. I had great fun once when someone in a different country kept saying what the weather was like - and all I did was check on that site and boy, was she pretending it was hot and dry when it was pouring with rain, and vice versa. The site currently says it is 17 °C here, and I have been out and checked and it is spot on.
Carole, My heating's fine as it's a sealed system and doesn't rely on mains water. I haven't got water butts. I think they must have cut the water off somewhere up the road, and it'll no doubt come back on later. It's been thawing for the past couple of days, so I can't see how my outside pipe can be frozen. Just annoying because this afternoon I made a fruit cake and now have lots of greasy washing up to do. Georgina's now fast asleep, flat out on the sofa which luckily is covered with a large throw over! My silly girl pulled a muscle a few days ago chasing the cat up the driveway which at the time was covered with sheet ice and since then has been hobbling on and off. I despair!
Thanks. The trouble is she's like a baby elephant who thinks she's a gazelle! And she will race around after Sashi or Gwylim both of whom are far more agile. Pei aren't built for speed! She's a bit uncomfortable but doubt if she's in pain because she's still jumping onto the sofa and my bed without any difficulty. I've given her some Melidoxyl just in case though! The good news is my water's now back on but by the time Georgina's woken up she'll be dry so I'll just give her a good brushing and tomorrow wash the throw over. Gwylim's due to visit the groomer in the next two weeks or so and I'll ask Anika if I can leave madam as well and she'll give her a bath!

Water, water and mud, glorious mud everywhere and my driveway is a quagmire! Although there's still some snow laying around thought we might at long last be able to get to the top of the garden, go through the gate and have a walk along the cart track. Twas not to be because as soon as I tried to walk up the hill for every step I took, slid six steps back so gave it up as a bad job. Snow forecast for tomorrow but we'll wait and see! Not that it makes any difference because if we're not to starve, I must go out to do the shopping.
@Pork1epe1 - I am so lucky as far as food goes. I have the macolet across the road although they have limited food - just some frozen meat/fish/vegetables and only basic in-season fruit and vegetables, but I can get all the fresh poultry etc I need for Tikva [and for me] from the stall in the shuk and Mikhaël delivers it. Avner, who used to have the lease on the macolet will bring me whatever frozen or fresh vegetables that Hai does not stock. And David, my driver, will also buy whatever I want, Yes I would like to go to one of the large supermarkets to pick out what I want, but circumstances being as they are I cannot - but I have these great people who will buy and deliver what I want. I believe that two of the largest supermarkets in the shopping centres just outside town do online shopping but I do not understand how to buy online from them.
Cold, damp and dull today. Yesterday was amazing - it started misty and cold, which turned to lovely bright sunshine. We took the dogs up to the top of the hill, and could see right across the Cheshire Gap as far as the Welsh hills. In the afternoon the cold rain began, which turned to hail after dark. The full spectrum of British weather in one day!
Dull, overcast, and miserable. Not particularly cold and it does not - yet - smell like it is going to rain and the forecast is not threatening any. But then again according to the hourly forecast it is supposed to be very sunny with no clouds.
I didn't manage to get any shopping done after all as it snowed most of yesterday and in any case couldn't open the driveway gates! The ground was so hard this morning the only way I could carry my very full dustbin onto the lane was by lifting the front gate off it's hinges. This afternoon the thaw set in and being slightly warmer, my neighbour came round and took the dogs for a quick walk "round the block", for which I was grateful and whilst they were out brought the dustbin back in. Hopefully tomorrow the temperature will be above freezing and after weeks of enforced confinement we'll finally be able to get into town! I'm having severe withdrawal symptoms from a lack of chocolate. Fingers crossed
Snow flurries here on and off all morning, but you have to look to look to see it in the air. Absolutely freezing. By far the coldest morning out for us so far this winter even though the car said 2.5 degrees C. With the easterly wind, it felt far far colder than that. Glad to get home this morning
Light rain overnight although not forecast - overcast, cold and miserable all morning but then the heavy clouds cleared and the sun appeared. A few white clouds but it is mostly sunny and quite warm-ish.
