Friday 20th had to take Chester to the vets because he was constantly scratching his ears and making quite a mess. Still not 100% what caused it but the drops that were given seem to be doing the trick. He did make a huge fuss screaming blue (no pun intended) murder! You would've thought he was being hurt or tortured but no, he was having his ears checked. Big baby haha! Weighed 18.5kg he's now 24 weeks (I think, really bad of me I know!!) Oh and we've started to use his lovely leather harness. Still a little bit big but he's so much easier to walk with this one.
Karen, Chester's growing up to be a very handsome boy and you must be very proud of him! 18.5 kgs at 24 weeks ... wow! He's already heavier than Georgina who at 3.5 years old only weighs 17 kg! How's he doing at training? I'd be very interested to know about his progress. And of course we need loads more photos! Hugs from us all in rather cold and snowy Hungary.
He's a big boy!! He's doing very well and his training. Accidents are few and far between. Recall is hit and miss but being food motivated helps (plenty of treats in the pockets haha!) He's still a daddy's boy but still likes his cuddles with me. So affectionate!! Loves it now he can get on the bed, he's good at waiting until I get up in the morning then goes for a post sleep nap on the bed with my partner after he's been outside in the mornings. Bath time is fun. He won't have one alone. It's comical. How is everyone??
Thank you @CaroleC! He's a little monkey!! Took several attempts to get that picture!! Posted some more pictures.
The drops worked! Thank goodness! He's back to his usual mischievous self!! PS he was eating a chewy at the time if he looks strange haha!
And what happened to the idea that he was the runt of the litter? Have you met any of his siblings to compare? A Very Happy 6 month birthday Chester, you are a handsome young man!
I know how wrong was I @CaroleC? He's so big!! He's stocky in comparison to one of his brothers who is a little taller and he was a lot bigger than one of his sisters. We're all on about meeting up again soon. He'll be 6 months in 2 days! Can't believe where the time has gone!!
Can anyone on here give me any suggestions on skin conditions. Our Shar Pai normally has a lovely thick coat but for a few weeks every couple of months she scratches herself bald! We have 4 dogs in total and fleas aren't an issue. When we first got her (2 years old) she had like a mud fever where she had spent so much time in the garden after her owner had just had a baby. Every time she gets like this it has the same sort of effect. We have found a fish oil based food (at a good price) that seems to ease it but do sent stop it. Any ideas?
Tried to upload a video but it wouldn't work so another picture will have to do. Going into town tomorrow and going to get the chunk weighed. Any guesses? Last weigh in was 22nd of Jan and he weighed 18.5kg.
No specific breed knowledge to go on, but I would be amazed if he had gained more than half a kilo in just over two weeks.
