My little man [K9] goes to vets tomorrow morning to have his cracked tooth removed, its very hard saying no to him when he keeps looking at his food dish as he hardly eats as it is, he don't understand he's not allowed to eat after 7pm has he's go to be at vets at 7am for premeds & will have his op around 8am hopefully be back home at 2pm fingers cross.
K9 as now settled back on sofa with me & is behind my legs. Am sure he's not comfortable I know I not.
Everything crossed that he will sail through the tooth extractions. [And he actually looks quite comfortable to me. ]
@6JRT's Wishing your boy the best of luck, and wishes for a speedy recovery. He does actually look very comfortable, and that's all that counts really, lol . Please keep us updated on how things go tomorrow . ~Elana~
Get well soon K9. It is horrible having to deny them food - torture for a Beag! Eddie broke his tooth completely in two on a bone last year, and Merry cracked the enamel off hers on an antler last month, so I do sympathise. The vets say that having a tooth out doesn't alter their faces, but I can see the difference.
You see your dogs every day, the vet does not. When Little One had to have ten teeth removed under GA [the back molars having to be cut out as the roots were rotten] having already lost her top four front teeth [not my fault as I had brushed her teeth daily with doggy toothpaste] but her dam had been fed on scraps and stale bread so Lexie was born with a disposition to have bad teeth, and the puppies were weaned on stale bread soaked in half and half water and milk ] - it was so obvious that she was almost like Old Mother Gummy. Luckily Ram let me stay with her in the small op room while she had it done [actually I took the place of his nurse, watching the monitors] - so I was able to bring her home once she had completely gotten over the GA. And she was back on her kibble the next day, having nagged for food the evening she had the surgery but I did soak her kibble to let her have some. Checking the time - I am two hours ahead of you Tina - K9 should be well zonked out from his pre-med now but I bet you will be on tenterhooks until he is home. Lots of cuddles from me when he is home - and Tikva says she will still love him, missing tooth an' all xx
Still waiting for vets to phone me back - there was problem with his blood test he as number 3 instead of number 3-4 in his blood not sure what vet meant but he still having op to remove his crack tooth.
Vets called to say K9 is recovering & I can go pick him up at 4pm, he's had tooth removed & the number thingy in his blood was due to infection in gum, he's had gum cleaned & is on a iv pain relieve drip. Am very happy mummy now x
I am so glad he is home and hope his mouth is not too sore. Please give him [and the rest of them] cuddles from Tikva and me. xx
