Yes, I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing I can do about this.
I share your view on dog behaviorists.

    Malka and Floppyears like this.
You had the attention of a trained behaviourist who was trying her best to assess the problem. You were not being asked to pay anything for her time or expertise.
Why bother to ask for help if you are just going to disrespect the helper?

    Which poster was this?
Sorry to offend, but I was merely stating my opinion.

Chris B did state that she was, a retired, 'snake oil salesman'. Hence all the questions.

Trained behaviorists, whatever that may mean, as over here it's Cesar Milan and people like him with lots of shock collars etc, should know they can't deal with such a problem online. In addition, sarcasm isn't the best way for someone to link you to professionalism or "expertise" on a topic because I didn't really know what Chris meant by that either. It makes sense now that you pointed it out, but still.

PS - How is one a salesman when one is female? Very confusing all the way around.

    Pedantic, Myra :). Salesman/Saleswoman - what's it matter?

'Snakeoil Salesman' comment was in response to the Op saying that all behaviourists are 'Snakeoil Salesmen'

Behaviourists do not deal with problems online with any degree of accuracy, but can often offer tips that may lessen a problem (sometimes even do the trick in respect of simple problems), but, of course, to actually work a problem properly they do need to meet the dog and owners to assess the dynamics of the relationship and gain insights to what is causing the problem.

Qualifications (or training if you like) - HNC Canine Behaviour and Training, BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Training, many, many workshops on various specific topics, Academic Consultant (retired) on the BSc course above. Both qualifications (5 years in total) containing both practical and theoretical elements.

Cesar Milan is not a qualified nor trained behaviourist.

Anyways - back to my happy retirement :)

I did not use the words "Snakeoil Salesmen"
    Whatever.
Thanks to all of you that replied and tried to help out.
My opinion of behaviorists still stands, sorry if that offends.

    Bye and thanks again.

"I just can't trust some behavior person; snake oil in my opinion"

My apologies, you didn't use the exact words I said
