Like Pereg I keep Tikva indoors, all windows closed, when my landlady next door gets the yards sprayed against weeds. The problem with weeds is that the stray dogs who come into the yards [mainly the front yard] have not been treated against fleas and ticks. It is the responsibility of my landlady but she uses locals and the weed spray is no better than water. Nir, who would do if for me [my home, my yard, rented or not] can no longer get the strong weed spray as it is now only permitted for Local Authority use. So, this morning I saw a guy with a weed-chopper cutting down weeds that encroached on the pavement. Asked how much he wanted to cut down the weeds and high grasses in my front yard and at the sides. Offered him X amount - he called his boss - and has just been round cutting everything down, clearing it up, and then spraying with proper strong stuff. How do I know the weed spray is the proper strong stuff? When Nir was able to get it he always said to keep Pereg in and all windows closed. The locals my landlady used said oh no, no need to keep the dog in. This guy said to keep all windows closed and not let Tikva out for at least an hour. It did not cost much - actually half of what my landlady used to pay for the useless guys - and as Nir cannot get the proper spray as it is banned except for Local Authorities, and I only asked for the weeds to be chopped down, I am really pleased. Hopefully everything will be cleared and I need not worry - proper weed-killer should last for six months minimum. I do not mind the weeds and grasses but they grow and grow and as stray dogs can, and do, get into my yards, they carry ticks and fleas which I do not want Tikva to catch, even though she is Frontlined every month. I also do not like masses of weeds and grasses because that is where snakes hide.
Snakes oh no better to have the weeds chopped down - yes we have to keep all my animals [dogs, cats, rats, rabbits & guinea pigs] inside for upto 2 hours when rent a kill sprays my patio areas, [they also spray ant killer on patio areas too] As for Tikva she might want to kill the snakes if any come into your garden
I wish she would catch and kill the meecicles that are indoors... ...but I really am scared of snakes, especially as there are some nasty poisonous ones here.
