No she is not, she is a crossbreed. - Yes I know, but half is a Beagle, the other half is a Minpin. No she is not, half is a Dachshund, but the other half is a Minpin - Yes but here we do not call them Dachshunds, we call them Beagles. Whaaaaaaaat? They are two totally different breeds. - Well that is what they are called here. Right. This was Yehuda yesterday evening, the first time he had seen Tikva, and it was the first time I had ever heard that Dachshunds are known as Beagles here. And this guy has had a pet store in town for as long as I have known him, and that was way back when I bought Chookie, my little budgie, from him in the late '80s. I wonder why Daxies are known as Beagles though.
Do you think he might be getting confused with a Teckel? In their native land Dachs. are working dogs, and are higher on the leg. A lot of people call them Teckels.
No, she is definitely not a Teckel. She is half Daxie and half Minpin. But for some reason Daxies are known as Beagles here. Tikva does not even look anything like a Beagle but definitely looks like a rather mis-shapen Dachshund.
