K9 is a daddy again the breeder I got K9 from had some of K9's sperm frozen before I had K9 neutered. [don't know how vet collected the sperm & don't want to know either but it was collected on day he was neutered & kept frozen] Had an email this dinner saying that Yankee Doodle Dandy IX [9th] was born at 4am this morning, K9 is Yankee Doodle Dandy IV [4th] Kobi is Yankee Doodle Dandy V [5TH] Zeus is Yankee Doodle Dandy VI [6th] Alfie is Yankee Doodle Dandy VII [7th] K9's son born to the overall champion JRT bitch Tilly (K9's breeder owns bitch) now been neutered Patch is Yankee Doodle Dandy VIII [8th] K9's son born to the overall champion JRT bitch Tilly (K9s breeder owns bitch) now been neutered Now Yankee Doodle Dandy IX as been born again to the overall champion JRT bitch Millie {Tilly's half sister} (K9's breeder owns bitch) It's now up to Yankee Doodle Dandy IX to continue the bloodline pedigree name as there is no more of K9's sperm left - K9's daddy the original Yankee Doodle Dandy is too old to be a stud dog & his 1st & 2nd born sons Yankee Doodle Dandy II, III are both dead, which left K9 the only remaining Yankee Doodle Dandy to be stud dog, which is why breeder ask to have his sperm frozen before I had him neutered. Now the Yankee Doodle Dandy pedigree name will live on through Yankee Doodle Dandle IX
OH Tina, how exciting for you! I guess you will be visiting soon, and taking lots of photo's. A pity there was only one in the litter, so let's hope that YDD IX will be able to take the line forward for another generation.
No not going to see the litter as I will want one or 2 of the puppies [7bitches & 1 boy] plus the breeder as a full white & a full chocolate coloured bitch in the litter that I will try to smuggle home with me, but I will be getting photo of K9's son Yankee Doodle Dandy IX (breeder going to call him K9 after his daddy)
Welcome to the new Yankee Doodle Dandy puppies! Does that make you a great-grandma now?! Incidentally, regarding collecting semen - vets [and doctors] know what they are doing and how to do it. But I will not explain how!
Not sure Malka what that makes me think its Grandma as pup is K9's son. As for the sperm NO I don't want to know how they collected it x
Of course you are Grandma just as you are for the hooligans. I think I had a brain fart for a moment. And no way will I tell you how the "collection" is done!
Sorry I misunderstood. I thought there was only one puppy in the litter. I can see you have enough JRT's at present, but it is good to know that you could have one from a future generation though.
Yes but I would of loved to have the pure white one & pure chocolate one, but I have 10 % of the sold puppies x
Congrats Tina! A couple of questions though, in which country is the breeder's JRT bitches a champion? Are they FCI registered and shown in Europe? And is Chocolate a recognized colour in JRT's? As far as I was aware they have to be predominately white.
The breeder originally from America but now lives in England, the JRT show classes are in England & all over the world. K9 was the English male JRT champion for 7 years running in UK, the JRT shows starts from January & run to July then the UK champion show is in August with the world wide champion show in September [K9 as been the world wide champion 4 times] No the pure chocolate colour is not recognized here in UK, so therefore can't be shown however the pure white colour is recognized & can be shown, there are very few chocolate & chocolate/black JRT's being born each year by the registered breeders, K9's breeder as only had 2 chocolate & 1 chocolate/black puppies born over the pass 6 years, selective breeding as been maintain by the KC, but only with the show JRT's that have been AKC, KC registered, the English KC as been keeping a log of all pedigree JRT's that have been bred for the pass 15 years, that is how I found K9's breeder through the KC, they give me a list of breeders that have been on their breeding program, [the breeding programme was introduce to try to remove pudding's from the breed as these trend to have more illnesses than the standard size] The other type of JRT are working dogs, the working dogs have no KC standards at all & are being bred as small as possible, they have been cross bred with Chihuahua's over the years to produce T-Cup size JRT's many die before they are 2 years old due to having their organs squashed.
JRT's are not as yet recognized by the KC though ( although will be shortly ), so I assume the Champion status is just something the club holds for fun? The only places a real Championship title could be obtained would be as you said in the US and other European countries where the JRT is FCI registered. Never knew that about the colour though. Thanks for clarifying. Are the chocolate JRT's less desirable? Kind of how white Boxers have reduced prices and are placed in pet homes.
Congrats I know how exciting it is. You should be proud. So the breeder uses that name on males not only consecutively but like with brothers. It was hard to fillow but I think I got it. I'm confused what are chocolate/black? I know chocolate is and what black is. Not sure what is meant by it being chocolate/black. Why would working JRTs be crossed to Chihuahua! People breeding for The cup size are not working dog are bybs producing a "cute fad" dog. It is a horrible practice.
The problem is these Chocolate/black & Chocolate JRT's are advertised as rare by unregistered breeders & sell them for a ridiculous prices starting from dogs £700 bitches £900, then when the new owners try to enter them into the JRT shows they find out they can't because of their colouring. chocolate/black JRT
Those dogs are black and tan. A dog cannot be both black and chocolate. As chocolate (like blue) is a form of black, hence the confusion. Dogs can be black and tan, chocolate and tan or blue and tan.
Sweet pictures Tina, but I would call that Black and Tan - as in a Black and Tan Terrier. There is chocolate coloured variant in some breeds, (ie. Dobermann), usually called Liver and Tan in the show world.
That's what the breeders advertise them as chocolate /black ? these are what advertised as chocolate coloured first picture is of a stud dog.
They sound like clueless byb, no doubt? The stud is chocolate and tan or liver and tan as Carole said. The puppy on the right and last pup also. All tan point gene. The points can range tan, brown or red but the are all simply differing shades of pheomelanin.
That's why they are not recognized by the KC they only recognized the tan/white, black/white & tri colour as long as 70% is white, any other colours ie black/tan black/chocolate, black, chocolate, tan is not allowed to be shown, but these colours are being advertised as rare by unregistered breeders & owners are being fooled into thinking they are buying a unique JRT, when in fact they are buying a normal JRT but some vets will put them down as JRT cross. no registered breeder will sell these colours as rare (unless they are BYB or Puppy Famer) they are sold as solid coloured or 2 tone coloured no white & are unable to be show dogs, registered breeder sell these JRT puppies for £50 to £75 each, but K9's breeder will be keeping Willow his chocolate pup unless I dognap her he will have her sprayed at 6 months old & will bring her along to the next annual JRT club meeting.
All those pics look like crossbreeds to me. That first coloured chocolate stud looks like a Rat terrier to me which are quite common in the States I believe. I don't see JRT in any of them! which is why up until now it's been impossible to KC recognize the breed as anyone and everything can claim a small terrier type is a JRT. There is just so much variety.
