To be perfectly honest, I do not like that sort of toy as it confuses the dog and can, and does, easily distress them. I also do not think that Max looks particularly happy as he frequently appears to attack the toy.

Just my opinion though.

Reminds me of how my border collie used to play when my son was little and had a remote controlled car (not as grand as a Bugatti though!).

If I'd had Chico at the time he'd have probably had a ride on it!

Yeah I've had mine play with their fair share of kids toys. I don't think it makes them confused or stressed. They are playing like with any other moving object.

Same here when my son had remotes, mind you one dog loved playing and trying to catch them but the other stayed well clear, must say though that we had many an hours entertainment watching the Ferrets chase them .

I have two laser pointers, one red and one green, but Tikva does not seen to like them. But then she is a strange puppy!

I wouldn't get one as couple been prosecuted by the RSPCA for 'tormenting' their 2 dogs with laser pens, the RSPCA claim the dogs were so distress after chasing non existent lights, that they had no choice but to put both dogs down.

That sounds like hog wash to me. Is RSPCA turning dog ownership into a police state.

Laser pens can drive dogs insane. Any dog that is highly strung can get so hooked on the things that they develop on to chasing anything that moves (even dust motes).

What can start off as a bit of fun, can lead to unexpected results ending with neurotic dogs. The problem is very hard to overcome if it is well established

That's what I think happened to these 2 dogs that the RSPCA had put down, they started chasing anything that reflected light, to a point where they were so focus on something that wasn't there, that the RSPCA stated they were so stressed out it was kinder to put them to sleep.
The article in vets said they were Welsh Springers, aged 8 & 10 years old.
There was also an big poster in vets saying anyone who had a laser pen can bring them to vets & they will swap it for a simulating cat or dog toy, they have removed all their laser pens off the shelves too.

I bought the laser pens not for Pereg, who was still with me at the time, but because of the boys that used to torment her. Shining them at those horrible boys was far better than yelling at them.

I did try Tikva with one but she ignored it. She far prefers to play with her soft toys.

I would imagine that they could be damaging to eyesight if they are used carelessly. As we know, some dog owners can be irresponsible, on balance I think I would rather see them withdrawn from sale.

The strange thing is that after I had to have my beloved Pereg pts - those horrid boys never appeared again. Tikki does not like the great outdoors so is not out that often, but I am sure those boys know I have a puppy. They also know I will have a laser light with me when I go outside.

There is no way they are going to torment Tikki as they did with Pereg.
