I did not want a small puppy. Even Baby Ziva was bigger than this THING is. But she is just so cute and a total nutcase. Although I could have happily not had her wake me up at 3am.
I am sure you are going to do your best to make sure that she gets over the biting and nipping. She looks so adorable. Reminds me of the time I had a mini-pincher named Prince. He was just all over the place all the time. Getting his photo is only possible if I was holding him. Even with a leash, he just could not stay still. Anyways, lest you need to be reminded,
Hmmmm - Tikki Tikva grows - still small but the mesh harnesses are difficult to get over her head. Not that it seems to be a particularly large head but still... Anyhow, I found somewhere, probably on Ali Express, where they sell these mesh harnesses for peanuts, so I have enough larger ones - I hope. I wonder why I have a box full of harnesses and collars that were Little One's and Pereg's - the latter being Ezydog in various sizes, plus her ComfortFlex harnesses and limited slip collars that she seemed more comfortable wearing as they were wide, soft, and nicely padded. I doubt I will ever have a larger dog again so I wonder why I keep them?
I have to keep them. Never kept anything from the Griffons I used to breed in England, but after I had to give up work and adopted Little One, I just kept all her harnesses, collars and tags - and at that time she had a new tag each year for her rabies shot. They do not give them these days as rabies shots and microchips are registered with the Min of Ag. They probably were before but we used to get yearly tags. But there is no way I could ever use her harnesses or collars so why do I keep them? Even her basic tag with just my ID number and telephone number. LO died in the middle of the night, cuddled up to me, and when Ram came to collect her in the morning he took off her harness and collar. Just as he did at 1am on 1 April this year when he came to give Pereg peace. He took her out to his car, wrapped in a blankie, and brought in her harness and collar - with her epilepsy tags. I have to keep them Phil - Tikva has her own harnesses [harnesses] and collars [yeah, well, I spoil her with pretties] but her tag just has my name, ID number and telephone numbers one side - and a blue and white Star of David the other side. Pereg, of course, had her "I have epilepsy" tag, as shown on my avatar.
Tikva is no longer wearing XXS harnesses. Or even XS. I am not even sure whether I will be able to get this S one off [probably have to cut it] as her ears seem to get in the way getting them off. That is the only trouble with these over-the-head harnesses. Good thing I bought some M size ones ready for when the S are too Small - probably have to buy larger collars soon as well...! Looking at those photographs I cannot believe she was that small - then I looked at the first ones I took of her when she was even smaller and would fit in one of my hands. I really must try to take some more as she has grown so much.
I have not seen any of that type, just the regular mesh ones that have to be put on over the head and are done up with a strap that goes around the chest. Those look very good but are probably far more expensive than the ones I have bought from AliExpress, which are under $2 and postage free. Also at the rate Tikki has grown and will probably grow a bit more in the next few months, I have no idea how long one of those would last. Do you have a link to the suppliers please?
Hi Malka they are being sold on Amazon & ebay plus the place on the photo below price are hard to work out as they are in $ not £ x
Many thanks for your help Tina - much appreciated. However, none of the sellers of those harnesses on Amazon will send to Israel - as expected. I have found them on eBay though at a reasonable price but having looked at them they seem too all enclosing, which is not good for the summer. Also, even though they say the chest strap is adjustable, from zooming in on the pictures of the back they close with a plastic clip and velcro, and nowhere can I see anything that can be adjusted. And that is the problem. Tikva is probably growing still and if the girth cannot be adjusted then I will have to stick with the over-the-head ones, just getting larger sizes if and when necessary.
One of the first harnesses I got for Rosie was a Puppy One make. It was great because it was a standard mesh harness with the addition of two adjusters on the neck which allowed it to be made bigger to accommodate larger heads. Unfortunately, she has now outgrown their sizes so has a standard mesh harness (size large) that fits her perfectly. I have noticed though that different brands in the standard mesh ones are different sizes. For example, some large harnesses are snug while others are too large. They don't make it easy do they?
The thing is that Tikki does not have a large head. Maybe a fraction wider than a full Daxi, standard or miniature, but harnesses that go over it are difficult, if not impossible, to get off. I guess it is like clothes, with a size 12 fitting like a size 10 in some stores, and a size 14 in others. But when measurements are given for harnesses on various sites for neck and girth size to show the size of harness needed, they should be fairly accurate. Easy? Whoever said life was supposed to be easy!
