    Update on Tikva

3½ months old - still small but I have just managed to weigh her and she weighs ~3.80kg. Yes she has grown but she is still small and is nice and slim but oh so heavy for her size.

Back on 4 meals a day but smaller amounts and she can cope with everything except for yoghurt. Which comes up with whatever it is mixed with, a couple of hours later.

She is still a biter but is slowly easing off on that. Anyhow, she is now old enough and weighs enough to have her rabies shot and microchip - Ram thought she was too small for them before now and in any case it is necessary a minimum until 3 weeks before the rabies shot. They only give two puppy shots here, not three, so as soon as I can get hold of Vadim she will have her rabies shot and microchip.

And then I can take her out. Which is going to be a nightmare as she is a little booga.

3.80 kg? Chico says she must be a giant. He had hoped there might be a future for the two of them, but he really can't see himself being happy with such a monster.

Re the yogurt - have you tried goat's yogurt? It's supposed to be easier for them to digest, though mine are OK with the normal stuff.

Please tell Chico that Tikva is NOT a giant. I have no idea how she weighs so much as even on four meals a day they are very small meals. You can see her ribs, she has a gloriously slim waist, and a perfect tuck.

She is just heavy for her size and all I can think is that she gets that from her large standard Doxie mother. But she is not big, And she still does not look like a standard or even a miniature Doxie.

    Tikva is Tikva.

I have to re-check the weights but I have to accept that I have a small puppy who weighs more then one would expect.

    Sorry Chico :(

Chico says he has no wish to be offensive to a lady, but he can see no reason for any dog to weigh more than 2.2 kg. That is what he weighs, and any dog weighing more than that must, in his opinion, be greedy.

Look, I do not know. I get the electronic scales out, hang on to the bar on one side of the loo, hang on to the rail between the bog and the shower, drop my crutches and check my weight.

Then go and find da mini booga, get back on the scales, etc etc - and if my weight minus her is whatever, and my weight plus her is whatever else...

    ...I think she weighs 3.2kg

    But I could be wrong.

I've given up weighing myself - I can't seem to find any that are reliable. According to my scales, I gain and lose several pounds within seconds. I've tried changing the batteries and the floor the scale is on, but I get wildly different readings each time. Chico was weighed at the vets so I'm assuming his are fairly accurate.

So, I just go on whether my clothes fit or not and don't worry about how much I weigh!

That could be her correct weight as when the hooligans were born I weighed them every day & by time they were 12 weeks old they were between 3.6kg to 4.8kg but looking at them you wouldn't think so, but now they weigh between 8.5kg right up to 12.9kg but according to the so called books they should weight 6.4kg to 8.2kg oops

Yes I would agree that 3.2 is about right for a part standard doxie.

    Who weighs 12.9kg?!

I told my Doctor his scales were wrong when he said I was 80kg, (176.37lbs, 12st 8), I told him I weigh only 40kg, (88.16lbs, 6 stones) he said maybe once upon a time like when I was a teenager :043:

Dunnit again and maybe she is 2.80kg maximum but I am not sure as my sight is not good but how can a small part Doxie - whether 3months or more, weigh so much?

2kg or 3 kg. Tilva is small. I do not care what her weight is - she is happy, healthly, bites but hey ho she is a puppy.

    Tikva is not a standard Doxie. And never will be. She is the little puppy of my life;

Perhaps they could weigh Tikva for you at the macolet. Pop her into a pillowcase to save all the scrabbling - and any hygiene complaints.
(Though they do weigh dirty potatoes!).

As you say, whether she's 2 or 3 kg, all that matters is that she's healthy. Her weight is only going to be relevant in deciding the correct dosage for any medication she might need, and the vet will be able to make that decision.

I have no idea really what Tikva weighs, but she looks good for her size. And she is happy. Her looks, according to her shape/size are perfect. I would be happier if she stopped biting but oh well.

    Cannot expect everything.

She sleeps in her big crate at night. Sleeps it the tiny one when it it is time out.

And she is such a cute little cross Doxie. And behaves when she wants to.

    And I love her.

Da mini booga woke me about 3.15am [it has just gone 4am now] by squawking - that meant she needed a poo. She will pee in her crate but not poo. Usually I go back to bed once I let her out of her crate and she goes into the salon, poos and then goes to sleep either in her bed or on the couch, but for some unknown reason I could not get back to sleep. She is on the couch, fast azonk, having decided that neither of the pee pads were good enough to poo on, so did it on the door mat inside the door.

I have just realised that when Vadim comes to give her her rabies shot and microchip her, she does not have a vet medical card for him to sign etc as she has not been to the surgery - Michal came here to give her her first worm pill [left a bit for me to give her the second one] and then came both times to give her her puppy shots. She also left me a worm pill, half for 2 October, the other half a couple of months later, so I have no idea when I will be taking her to the surgery but I will mark it down on her online diary.

Funny little puppy - much smaller than I had wanted but they wanted rid of her even though she was only 3 weeks old. So what could I do?
