    Takeaways

I pride myself on cooking good healthy meals and rarely resorting to takeaways. But perhaps I order them more than I thought - it's my husband's birthday so decided to order a curry as a treat, and when I rang up to place the order the guy immediately recognized my voice and knew where I live!

It's arriving in about half an hour - I'm really looking forward to it. And no pots and pans to wash up!

It was lovely thank you - though as always I ordered too much and am now feeling bloated!

I bought Charlie some new clothes and the game Scrabble for his birthday! Haven't played it for years - nor any board games come to think of it. Thinking back to childhood, card games were a regular feature of our lives - don't suppose I could even remember how to play them now!

We've discovered a really good Indian takeaway in Perth that delivers (for a price) to us out in the sticks. We may only have one every couple of months but it's really, really good.

Our local one (near enough to do free deliveries) is very good, but doesn't compare to some of the ones we used to go to along the Curry Mile in Rusholme, Manchester. Apparently the Chinatown area of Manchester was good, but I'm not too keen on Chinese food - give me a curry anyway!

@Janet You have just awoken some lovely memories of the Rusholme Curry Mile. We used to go to The Sweet House quite often. Like yourself, Chinese food doesn't hit the same spot for me. There are curry houses on every high street round Stoke, but they don't the magic of those early days.

I do not think there is an Indian takeaway [or even a sit-in] Indian in town but it would not matter if there was. "You no live in town, we no deliver" even though I am probably nearer than most of the vastly increased down. There used to be a Chinese but it did not do takeaways.

So when I really cannot be bothered I telephone one of my drivers to get a shwarma [extra meat, extra salad, loads of little containers of various pickled wotsits...] and that is my "takeaway" treat.

Shwarma should be lamb but to get lamb costs a dozen mortgages so this is dark turkey meat.

And I have tp get a diver to bring it...

...but I really crave Chinese at times
