2am and a tiny puppy climbing over my head and then trying to chew off an ear was enough. Back in the crate she went and I ignored her screeches. One of us is going to have to learn but a week later she is thriving B"H and I am just knackered.
Wonder who will give in first you or Tikva my moneys on you Malka I can see little Tikva back on your bed again tonight xxx
No Vet check for Tikva today - neither Ram nor Michal will come out or let me take her in as they have a case of Parvo and it looks like it is spreading. I was speaking with Michal [Ram's new vet] on the telephone and she could hear Tikva screeching - and she laughed. Said Tikva was not crying, just throwing a tantrum because she could not get to where she wanted. So, no vet check for at least another two weeks - strict instructions not to put Tikva on the ground outside but OK to take her to the macolet around the Moshav on my lap on my chair or on my big scooter as long as I do not let anyone near her or touch her. As long as she get used to trucks and big tractors and school buses etc. Rather difficult with lots of kids going Aaaaah, but I am not prepared to lose yet another in such a short time. But she is getting socialised, for which I should be grateful. And she seems to be thriving for which I am extremely grateful. Because she is rather sweet...
Tiny Tikva is, so far, doing great. She did not even complained when put in her crate last night - ignored me going to the loo at stupid o'clock and waited for me to get up to let her out. No pee on the pad in her crate but instantly pee'd on the pad nearest it once I opened the crate. With Parvo around she will have to be pad trained as I will not let her down on the ground outside. She is also refusing to drink puppy replacement milk from a bottle but will lap it from a saucer as long as she has her front feet in it. Also very keen on the powdered cereal for human babies which I mix half and half with her puppy milk substitute and water. And some sugar-free Gerber fruit "salad" from a teaspoon occasionally. Tiny bits of chewed [by me] raw meat and fish also muchly enjoyed by her. Yuck. But there are no guarantees in life so who knows what will happen with Tiny Tikva. All I know is that I am doing my best and so far so good. And she seems to be happy. Comes when called but I have to be very careful of open refrigerators and cupboards, because tiny as she is she will climb into both. Strange though that in the very few days I had Ziva, she would just flonk down wherever she was when she was tired, usually in the middle of the floor, and yet Tikva will go either to her bed or her crate - both of which were bought for Ziva, whichever was the nearest to she was at the time.
Sounds like she is doing very well, Malka. Every day, she is nearer the time when you don't have to worry so much and she becomes a proper little, carefree puppy (or should that be proper little madam)?
If I only knew where she is most of the time... she scurries and scuttles and L-rd help me if I open a cupboard and do not make sure she has not gone inside before closing the door... ...and how the hell does she manage to climb into the refrigerator?
I have recliners on the sofa. Rosie's favourite trick when she was very tiny was to get inside the sofa. It was the devil's own job to get her back out again. Had a cat once that used to get in the tiniest of gaps to get behind the gas fire to the back boiler. We had that fire to bits quite a few times to get her out of it
At least Tikva will grow and hopefully get too big to get into tiny spaces. We once had to take floorboards up to retrieve a hamster!
Umm - I fp mpy jsb [sorry, "thing" under my arm] we have stone floors] but will someone please tell me why I am laughing when I have something that has crawled up my arm and is now asleep in my armpit?
Well you have to think like a puppy Malka & know where best warm places to sleep are & I am guessing armpits are warm place xxx
I once had a cat that went missing for a couple of days. He had been nailed under a neighbour's bedroom floor when they had their house rewired. Must have taken him a while to realise that he was trapped. Boy was he dirty!
The Thing woke me up at 5am as it wanted to pee. Not on the pee pad in it's crate of course, that would be undignified but on the next nearest pad. Then decided dindins - and tipped the saucer of puppy milk replacement all over the floor. Not that she cared now she has learned how to lap and oh well, her human can wash the floor. Oh, and she managed to get stuck under the refrigerator/freezer. One tiny puppy, mostly housetrained, free to the nearest person who will PLEASE come and collect her.
It looks as if you have your hands full Malka. Is she growing? Are you able to post any updated photos yet?
