    Johnny Depp dogs to be put to sleep

    Actor Johnny Depp as until Saturday to remove his dogs from Australia or they will be put to sleep.

    Simple solution to take back to the states. He wanted to get around the quarantine laws so that is a risk he took.

    He should have arrived by yacht - then he could have done what Elizabeth Taylor did in England in the 1970s - lived on board the yacht along with her dogs!

    I'm sure you're right. As I haven't got a private jet or yacht I've never had occasion to look into it!

    As far as I'm aware had they arrived in Oz by a private yacht they would have had to apply well in advance for an import permit to take the dog ashore.

    Dogs who arrive by yacht in the UK have to have a valid Pet Passport
    Countries visited en route have to be stated in the ships log.
    Whilst moored in a UK port the dog must be .....
    Restrained and kept in a confined area.
    Not come in contact with any other animal or person boarding the yacht
    Not allowed on to go ashore or on the yacht deck.

    My son's a "yachty" and we have two ocean going yachts (up you Johhny Depp) In the 80's it was quite normal to have one or more dogs and a cat aboard. We once acquired a lovely little Greek Shepherd Dog called Phyllo from a friend who left her behind when he left to sail to wherever. If anything happened to me Georgina and Gwylim would have to learn to swim as they'd be going to live with my son and sail the seven seas!
