De Dawg with a few little treats on her paws, just waiting for permission to have them! [I am an evil mommy]
Lol I'm an evil mommy too. I hide the treat, tell her to find it, then she alerts when she does and can have it. Just one of my evil ways with food lol. I love the facial expression. Like please can I have these already.
I am an unevil mummy as all my open dog treats are in a big Great Dane size food bowl in family room & they can help themselves to a treat when ever they want.
When I am really evil I tell her to sit in the middle of the floor, put a tiny treat on each paw, a few on her head and on her nose and a few spread out in front of her... ...and say Wait. And she does!
Cruel Malka making Pereg drool over her doggy treats. But wait me think Pereg gets revenge by destroying tissues heeee xxxx
What a good girl! Can you please send her over to me to teach Georgina and Gwylim some manners please! The people who own the land next door arrived this afternoon and got barked at by my two. So I went out with a bowl of treats to shut the two G's up, which worked very well until I realised they were only being quite 'cos they were busy helping themselves to the treats .... once they'd eaten them all the little monkeys started barking again!
De Dawg rarely has treats [Tina - tissues are not my idea] but although she is not the best trained dog she does know and follows the instructions "wait" in both English and Ivritbut it means the same. Do Not Touch It Until I Say So. *Ahem* - this is De Dawg wot I took to the Pension yesterday afternoon as I wanted to stock up on her special chews [mutter mutter mutter - they did not have her ultra special ones] but who helped herself to the loose wotsits that were within her reach.
My dogs would be so fat lol most don't have that much control to free feed. We are the most evil dog mom's lol I've thrown big raw meaty bones out in the field. But my dog has to wait to go and find them on command then search for it through all the brush. But they sure have good noses. But dogs like to torture themselves too. When I've been filling the bowls with meat they have to sit & stay away until it's time to eat as I won't have them rushing for the food making a ruckus.
@Bulldogs4Life I am sure its an JRT thing, as all the JRT's sites I am on all say the same, that they leave treats & their dry food down all day & their dogs just help themselves as & whenx
Your probably right it depends on the breed. My CO would never over eat & if outdoors bury chicken for later or keep around big deer pieces. But most Pits could eat themselves into a coma.
Neither of my dogs could be trusted with free access to any kind of food.Beagles would eat until they burst - which makes small treats the perfect training aid. BUT Loose food + other dogs/children, can sometimes lead to food aggression, I'm afraid this is one of the reasons that many of them end up in rescue. Tweed, (Lurcher x Terrier), has lived on the streets as a youngster, and although she is now over 13, she still grabs any chance to stock up. I'm afraid that this week it was a dead rabbit, Ugh!
That's one well trained puppeh. Callie is a gentleman and you have to all but put the food in his mouth, he doesn't ever grab. With Sophie you might want to count your fingers after you give her a treat.
These are K9's bowls (he eats upstairs on landing you have to excuse the dirty mat) 9:00am bowls 9:00pm bowls
