Yes I just saw that, it looking more likely to be someone from the public with probably links to some form of activist group... a member of PETA got into best in show ring last night but was removed quietly by stewards, so they have been around the show ....

I assumed it was likely to be a PETA nutter or someone with similar views when I heard. It is amazing how disturbed & disgusting they are. "Ethical treatment" what a joke

Well Crufts has certainly caused some controversy this year and not in a good way,
Dogs (supposedly) being poisoned, the Canadian obedience competitor who (allegedly) punched his dog on the NEC car park and the handling of the winning dog' be interesting to see how the KC handle it.

Just a quick update about dogs being poisoned at Crufts.

There is a rumour that a second dog was also poisoned, luckily it wasn't.

Through my contacts in dogs I have found out, not mentioning who, but actually attended the vet check , the dog had been sick so the vet induced it to bring up the rest of the stomach contents.

All it bought up was that mornings biscuits , before it went into the show ring the vet again examined the dog and gave it the all clear.

That is good news Tumbleweed, and I think all these, 'other cases', will probably turn out to be nervous tummies, or dietary indiscretions. Although I winced at the time, knowing that the incident was being televised, I also think that the Scottie handling incident will turn out to be a storm in a teacup. I personally wouldn't pick up a dog this way, but this has been the standard way of handling small terriers, for at least a hundred years, without any accusations of cruelty being levelled.
The whole nature of dog shows seem to be changing this century.I think that the Kennel Club needs to consider exactly for whose benefit it is that Crufts is staged. Is the primary reason to be the UK's premier Championship show for dogs and their owners, or is it just an exhibition of winning and working dogs, staged for public entertainment? Once they have resolved this dilemma, perhaps they could then decide just how much access the public are to be allowed to the exhibits, and how much we might have to modify some of our traditions to take account of pet owners sensibilities.
    Rant over.

Not sure if true yet but this is on Facebook

Crufts Poison ‘Murder': Shih Tzu Dog Reported Dead
Unconfirmed reports identify the dog as a Shih Tzu.
The Shih Tzu had been taken ill after the show, along with a West Highland Terrier and an Afghan Hound.
The Kennel Club, the organiser of Crufts, said it was aware of the claims a second dog had died

I do hope this does not turn out to be correct, Tina, - or if it is, please let it be due to natural causes. There seems to have been so much nastiness and gossip this year.

There is also an interesting comment from the Belgian vet who is investigating the death of the Irish Setter Jagger.

It isn't only Crufts where you need to be vigilant. There was an incident recently in the Erewash Valley (Derbyshire), where dog chews had been banded on to rat poison, and scattered in a country park. There are sick, uncaring B's in all areas - but fortunately they are a small minority.
