Those gates are a puppy playpen that I bought at Crufts in 1979 - I think for £8 - we had prize money in those days! Eddie loves to rub himself along ridged surfaces, so we needed something - they don't stop the dust and hair though, (sigh!).
Am I correct in thinking that the half on the right swings over to make a gate across the doorway? Brilliant idea if so!
That's right Malka - but it doesn't get used much. It was originally to stop Eddie sleeping right behind the door, and getting a knock when it was opened.
