On the coldest day here so far the ice-cream van - which has not been around for months - is just tootling round.
I'm sure Pereg could manage an ice cream, whatever the temperature. Has she settled again today, Malka?
@CaroleC - she has been quiet today thank you - a bit too quiet but after yesterday she must be exhausted. My girl does not do anything in halves - it is all or nothing! It is funny really - the macolet stops selling containers of ice-cream just the Magnums and things for the children on their way home from school - oh, ages ago although supermarkets still sell containers, and the vans stop coming round whereas during the summer we get about half a dozen of them driving us mad each day. But today? We had two or three bad days of sandstorms although those have stopped so it is no longer yellow outside - now it is just very heavy wind. And it is cold as these old bungalows have no insulation. And the ice-cream van came round!
We're having breaking weather cold today, think if an ice cream truck braved the slick roads a posse would be behind them pelting the truck with snowballs
The "Mister Frosty" van arrives EVERY Sunday afternoon without fail, whatever the weather. The difference though between mine and yours, is that in addition to ice cream, mine sells frozen veggies, meat and frozen ready made meals, which in winter time when you can't get out because of the snow, is very useful.
Bit like ours only Mr Whippy sells cigarettes & beer (under counter) Galliano sells venison (under counter) There's only Toni that sells just icecream, that's the one I go to all the time plus his double cone 99's are cheapest only £1.20p & the sprinklers are free x
Hyperspace magic my post went up twice x Even more hyperspace magic one of them as now disappeared lol.
I am jealous that you can get frozen FOOD as in vegetables, meat and [oh the luxury] frozen ready made meals - but it never is as cold here as it is there - just that we are not used to it and it really is cold here at the moment - for here, that is. To be honest why do you think I have a stock of pot noodle type things and cup-a-soups? There are really no frozen ready made meals here. And I can get out although just to the macolet for basics but for anything else I cannot because I cannot leave Pereg. So the ice-cream van which only sells ice-cream was a bit of a "wotcha doin' 'ere" thing.
Ice cream trucks don't come to my neighborhood. They don't like the bumpy dirt roads. No children on my street either.
They are a nightmare here in the summer. They go around with those dratted chimes going non-stop, to give people time to get some money and go out and stop them on the way back. And then the next one turns up...
