Because I can not buy a new battery for my ancient mobile because it is ancient. And you can only buy Smart phones now. But I only want a mobile for emergencies. What happened to easy life?
OK - what can a Smart phone do that I do not need now? Apart from costing a lot of dosh. With only an 8 year guarantee of a new battery? And they are BIG. And need a cover.
Malka, I don't see why. Israel is a modern country same as the US or England. I can get a regular cell phone from ANY company. I do not have a smart phone and don't want one. No need as I almost never use it. My son is in the Phillipines and has a regular phone as does my penpal in Australia. I also do not need to have a contract with the company. Maybe Effie is looking in the wrong places.
Yeah but I cannot buy a new battery for my very ancient LG. And dat woz de problem. You can by recycled but you cannot buy batteries for dem. Effie spend ages trying to find batteries and trust me he knows where to look. So I have no choice because my LG mobile is ancient and dat be dat. But Effie promised to teach me how to learn it but all I wanted woz a new battery for my LG. But dey aint made any more so Effie is buying a Smart phone for me but that means free calls each month. But he is going to have to teach me how to use it. Oh and he is going to transfer all my numbers and [scuse I battery in mouse died]. So he said well you can use it in bed and then to into the salon to the PC and I said wot for. Well he sed, but it duz computer stuff. Yeah well, so duz my PC. This guy is something else. He can not get a new battery for the LG because it is ancient and was made in Germany for Israel only. So I had to get a new mobile for emergencies and he spent hours - well maybe one hour? searching around for the best choice. And it looks like I will end up wivva Smart phone But. He will switch all my numbers on it. I will keep my number, and as I will have bought it outright all calls will be free. I do love that guy. But I really really really do not want a Smart phone.
My ancient LG mobile which was made in Germany for Israel only, does no longer have batteries available. They just are not and Effie could not find them anywhere. And trust me, if he can not find then then they are not available. The phone works if kept charged but there are no more batteries. It is just too old.
Not for an LG mobile made years ago in Germany for Israel only. I could not even get am English instruction book for it. And Germany, where it was made, says there they do not make batteries for it any more. Actually they said they only ever made batteries for a couple of years for this model. So I have to buy a new mobile and it looks like it is going to have to be a Smart phone.
Chain supermarkets (like Asda) still sell bog standard phones over here Malka. Like yourself, I only need one that makes calls, sends texts, and occasionally takes a photo. I can usually get what I need for under £20.
My LG? It was made in Germany for Pelephone [an Israeli mobile company] and there are no batteries available for it now. And I have no idea what model it is. It was bought so many years ago. Effie was trying to get the best deal for me. If you get a £20 one you still have to pay one company or another for the use of their service and for calls. Right? Buying the telephone does not give you free calls/service etc. Does it? And there is the snob problem here. Nobody wants to be seen with a bog standard mobile so they are not sold here any more. In any case you could only buy one from Pelephone or Cellcom, not just off the shelf from a supermarket. That is the snob problem. And I have no idea about how to send texts or take a photograph. I am an idiot. Believe me if Effie could find me a bog standard one he would. We just do not have them here now.
No Smart phone! I have just spoken to Effie again and he will look for a basic mobile for me. There might have been a language problem but there are basic mobiles. Well he thinks there are. Only they only last maybe two or three years because there are never replacement batteries. Or something. And then they would have to be registered with one of the mobile companies but he will have to sort it. I think he thought I wanted one to last forever but then he is young so he would. At the moment my LG works fine as long as he is charged most of the time. Oh, and I have toothache.
You mean for the toothache? Yeah, but other teefs are now hurting. And Effie is going to have to manually transfer all my numbers from the LG into the new mobile when he gets it. Because there is no way I would know how to. I think I will go back to bed. Again. The problem with Effie is that he thought I wanted a forever mobile telephone. At my age? He forgets I am a very old woman.
Effie sounds like a character. So nice of him to set up the new mobile for you. I usually depend on my daughter for those kind of things. She's very computer savvy. She works as an IT specialist for the state center for the blind teaching blind people to use all the different programs they need to be able to use a computer. Where did I get such a smart kid?
