    The snow started to thaw yesterday but last night froze again and my driveway is like a skating rink and even the dogs who unlike their mum have the advantage of four legs instead of two are slipping and sliding all over the place!

    It has been sunny most of the day although not that warm, but since then it has been very cold. My ensuite, which is at the back of the bungalow, has not had any sun, and as it is not a solidly built room it is like an ice-box in there. Liquid soap and shampoo/conditioner bottles feel like they have just come out of a refrigerator!

    Bedsocks and warm nightcap are vital equipment for nights, and the water I keep on my bedside cupboard is as cold as ice-water by morning. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Spent last night under the electric couch throw blanket with all 5 dogs under it with me. It was freezing AGAIN in sunny Florida. Where was Phoebe? In her tunnel under the house. Maybe I should take the hint and join her. OOP's, forgot...I'm not able to get down there 'cause I won't be able to get up from the ground and who knows if I could crawl into a deep tunnel.

    It bucketed down most of yesterday - luckily briefly stopping just long enough for Pereg to go out every-so-often. The sun was shining and it was warm outside [but not inside] earlier this morning, but there is now thunder rumbling away, the skies are very dark and ominous-looking, so I reckon any minute it is going to start raining again.

    Another cold, damp night. It's about 5:30 a.m. here. Dogs are lounging under the electric blanket. I'm sitting here trembling from the cold. Like many old Florida homes.....no heat.

    Within minutes of me posting yesterday the Heavens opened and it bucketed down again and has been raining on and off since then. We need the rain and it is all too infrequent, but when it rains it RAINS!

    This morning there was enough sun to heat the water so I could have a reasonably comfortable strip wash but definitely not enough for a shower, and the water was only just warm. Better than a cold strip wash though!

    Like Debra @manydogz this old bungalow has no heating and it also has no insulation, but I do have the small wall a/c units now, one in the salon and one in my bedroom, which take the chill off the air. Just.

    Not to worry - another month or so and I will be complaining about the heat again! :D

    The sun is shining, the sky is blue and I've got two delumptious young men working in the garden, chopping logs for my wood burning fires ..... what more can a girl want?

    There were snow showers here this morning, so we waited for a gap in them before walking the dogs. Just five minutes later, we were like snowmen, and the traffic had almost come to a standstill through the village. The dogs loved it though. Old lady Tweed reminded us that she had a Lurcher parent, and set off on several high speed circuits of the fields - with Little Legs Eddie battling to keep up with her, and providing a hound musical accompaniment.
    About 3 - 4 inches has settled, and the snow has stopped now, but I think there could well be more to come.

    It's being snowing a blizzard most of the day. It's that awful snow that feels like fine shards of glass hitting your face and definitely not a day for walking any distance. Instead, we took a walk round the garden which didn't suit the Princess one bit, so she retired to the front gate where she's been driving me stir crazy by barking at nothing in particular. Gwylim decided to help me by searching the woodshed and reports there's not a mice in sight before coming inside and shredding paper to make the fires.Victor arrived about half an hour ago with his chain saw to cut up wood for me. Just what I needed because neither of them like the sound of the chain saw. They're both now fast asleep and at long last I can enjoy a few minutes peace!

    @lovemybull - :058:

    Sunny and fairly warm outside but bdooly freezing inside.

    Sun = hot water = shower. But. When the ensuite is not heated it is bdooly cold stripping off to sit under the shower, and by the time you are dried [with cold towels] you have to put on bdooly cold clothes...

    ...somehow, somehow, I am going to get a heater in that room - and maybe also a heated towel rail? I wonder if it would be possible...

    Have you thought of buying a Dimplex Towel rail ... they have models which double as a heater. As far as I can see all you need is an electric socket in your bathroom and one of your delumptious men to fix it to the wall. Have no idea though how much they cost. (I mean the towel rail not the delumptious men)!

    Our last house had a small bathroom, but had an electric towel rail, and a high wall mounted fan heater with a pull cord. As long as they are properly wired into an external box, and there are no sockets actually in the bathroom, they are safe - and very cheap to buy.
