Waldo and Lulu came over for the night, actually there here everyday pretty much. All 3 are very socialized dogs and not HA or DA. So I wanted a beer or 2 (ok 12) after I got home from work. Everyone was at the house and all them where in the wrestle mode, so what better than a walk. Now all of them did fine past a few wants to play and crossing which my back will be feeling in the morning. Sad fact is I got the rudest comments, in a 20 min walk there and a 20 min walk back, than I would have believed. Had a lady from a car yell "Put them to sleep sicko" as she drove by. People dang near ran across the street to avoid us, even though they will lick you to death. there the same 3 dogs that if I walk them one at a time nobody cares, and actually they will cross the street for Mouse, if they don't know him or are scared of dogs. generally people stop me to asked about him or asked if they can pet him or take a picture with him. Now granted Lulu is the hated APBT, Waldo a American Bully, Mouse a Mastiff., Size wise Think Lulu is about 25lbs, Waldo is 77lbs, Mouse is whatever aint weighed him in a while. Why is it if I walk them all together am I irresponsible and a menace to the world? Also a short vid of the 3 goobers when we got back. .
AWWWWWW, what's adorable to us can look like a monster dogfight to some. I see three very happy pups.
BTW I just wanted to add I'm used to people crossing the street to avoid us, fine that's their problem and Callie doesn't appreciate strange men anyway BUT...someone calling out of their car like that...I look like a petite little senior citizen...but this is New Jersey...and they don't talk about my babies like that...I'd be yelling at them to get out of the car at the very least followed by the most colorful language ********.
So if Lulu weighs 25lbs and my "small to medium" fatso weighed in at ~48lbs in November [yes, yes, yes, she is on a diet yet again ] - do you think I should call her a PB? But they are all so cute and happy, so how can anyone be scared of them?
Rude, ignorant people. Hold your back straight, your head high, and pretend not to have heard any of it!
Lulu and Waldo are both rescues, while both are very poorly bred, there both extremely well socialized and in great health. Lulu for her first 6 months lived in 1 room and was maybe 10 pounds when my buddy got her, last vet check she was just under 27 pounds. Waldo for the first year of his life was locked in a apartment and weighed 25 pounds when my friend got him and took him to the vet, his last vet visit he was just over 77 pounds but is supposed to be on a diet. Vet wants him down to 60ish. He is most likely 70 to 75 currently.
People can be incredibly ig'nant. Mastiffs, bloodhounds, boxers, even the odd Newfie can all get tangled into great big muscled dog=pit bull. And with that label everyone knows your dogs eat children for lunch...
Lovely to see dogs enjoying themselves! Nasty comments aren't confined to large dogs either ... a couple of times I was asked if Chloe my 9 pound Tibetan Spaniel was vicious .... I ask you, how stupid can some people get! Last year when Georgina was visually impaired, whenever someone passed our gate she'd rush backwards and forwards barking. One of my neighbours told me I should have her put down because she was dangerous. This from a woman who two days previously had stood by totally unconcerned that her ******* dog had attacked Chloe!
My Evil One (Dottie) only weighs 6.45kg (roughly 14lb) but she don't get on with other dogs, however my 13.75kg (roughly 30lb) K9 loves other dogs. needless to say Dottie stays on her lead & is muzzled when out & about, but because of her small size other owners thinks she's cute & shouldn't be muzzled, I have to tell them she doesn't like other dogs & their big dogs will get bitten if I remove her muzzle. My Evil One My lovely sweet K9
