I like it. it is a Tadiran [Israeli make] 550 litre refrigerator/freezer, air-flow system so no need defrosting. But the light in the refrigerator section kept going on when the door was closed. No problem as I have a service contract /insurance [could have bought a new one in all these years but hey ho...] So telephoned yesterday and techie turned up today. Think it was only the second time in all these years I needed to call them. Costs all of £19.50 call out charge, all work and parts free. Well, if glass shelves broken I have to pay a quarter of price. Ditto if rubber thingy wot goes round the door - oh yes, gasket goes. Gotta pay a quarter of price. Anyfink else covered. De Door had dropped slightly but the techie upped it so light now goes off OK. Freezer at top has a different light. Which was OK. If I had not had the service contract I might have had to wait a week of more - which is why I also have a service contract on ThreeBees, my big upright freezer. Any problem and they send a techie the next day. Right. My beautiful Tadiran Super Apollo is now rather old. About 14 years old so he said but it it is still like new to me. And for what I have paid for the service contract I could have bought two let alone one new one. Only dey dunt make dem dat good now. De techie sed to keep it until they can no longer service/suppy parts fot it so fink he knew wot he woz talking about. I can not believe it that my beautiful Super Apollo is so old. It is still like new to me and I love it. Not quite sure what I have done but I have paid for another five years service contract/insurance, which is all they can guarantee spare parts for. Probably a good thing because as the techie said they do not make them like this any more.. I think.
Because I could see it just at the top of the door. Refrigerator/freezer has two doors, freezer being at the top. Both have separate lights but freezer light went off OK when door shut. So did refrigerator light but it kept coming on. So how did I know? Refrigerator/freezer is directly in in a line from my bedroom doorway [no door, of course] through the back room to the kitchen - [no door of course]. De dawg wants out for a pee or poo in the night and I could see right from my bedroom doorway wot 'as no door dat dere was a light at the top of the refrigerator door. But de techie fixed it as it woz just de door. But. You are not going to believe this but when I got my wallet out I ended on the floor. And I had to ask him to please help me up. Oh heck, am I fed up of ending on the floor and needing a man to get me up? Oh, and I have now lost all water in the kitchen. Somebody please tell me things cannot get worse? Please Booger.
Cannot have refrigerators or freezers in garages here [not that many people have garages here] as they are tropicalised and have to be kept indoors. Not that I am sure why, but if you keep one in a garage or an outside storeroom you cannot get a service contract/insurance on it.. Oh - and lovely to see you back Shirley! You have really been missed.
yeah they told me that about the dogs chest freezer, they tried to sell me an extended warranty and when i accepted it they declined me lol but that one's about 5 years old now, so I figure the temperature hasn't caused it any harm. They also don't differentiate between an integral garage which mine is and a stand alone outbuilding.
So the light came on again so I telephoned the service people again. At the moment I have switched the light off so it is not an emergency and I can wait for another techie due to come on Monday. A different techie. And sorted out the whole confusion about the insurance, which I knew did not need renewing but having just fallen I probably was not thinking straight. The Super Apollo f/f is insured until 17 November next year. ThreeBees is insured until 21 May 2016 so what was this extra five years for the Apollo only? Now finally sorted. Three years extra for The Apollo and two years extra on ThreeBees, which will take them both to 2018. Or something. With quite small monthly interest-free payments for the next nine months, so not much really. But I dare not risk not insuring either of them, because the service contract/insurance guarantees emergency service. I could have had a techie here today about the light but it is not an emergency as I have just switched the light off, so next Monday is fine. And I will not have to pay the call-out charge as it is for the same problem.
