To be honest Azz - I do not find that the slightest bit amusing. Not only is the owner lucky that nobody had a gun - which they would have been entitled to use if they really thought the dog was a lion - and at first glance, especially with the guy yelling about a lion - but someone with a bad heart could have had a heart attack. Nope, sorry, but I do not like "pranks" like these.
You can buy the lion manes off ebay & Amazon they start roughly at £2.99 upwards they come in several sizes & colours
Azz - when someone dressed similar to that of a zoo keeper mentions "lion" - asking if anyone has seen a lion - the majority of people do not see a dressed-up dog wagging its tail - their brain hears "lion" - they see a lion-coloured animal with a lion-type "mane" - and they see it as a lion, not as a dog - tail wagging or not. You know it is a dog. I know it is a dog. But the people in that video did not see it as a dog. And I am sorry but I still do not think it is funny. Same as all the other "pranks" on YouTube, some of which are rather sick, tbh. However, that is just my view, and although I really do have a good sense of humour I am not that keen on practical jokes that end up with other people making fools of themselves.
Looks like the dog in the video was a Lab? Some while ago when Georgina and I were at the vets there was a man with a dog the size of a mastiff which must have been a crossbreed, possibly GSD. The dog's body had been shaved just leaving long hair at the end of its tail, paws and round the neck and at first glance it looked like a lion. I felt really sorry for the poor dog because it looked absolutely ridiculous!
Barbara, it is not the dog I object to, however it was made to look. I object to the fact that it was used to frighten people, and some of the people in that video clip looked scared sh!tless, they were so frightened. When someone says "lion" as if it was a real lion on the loose, would you not be scared? You do not stop and look and see a dog dressed up with a pretend mane - you run like hell to get away from it.
Malka ... I totally agree with you. It was a cruel trick to play on unsuspecting people and IMO not in the least funny! The only time I've ever done something similar was a few weeks ago when I parked the car in town. I was just about to open the door to get out when this scruffy looking woman walked up and started knocking on the rear door window trying to attract the dogs attention. Georgie and Gwylim, quite naturally began to bark, which annoyed me, so I told her to go away, because if she didn't, they'd both leap out of the car and bite her! Not true of course because they're both harnessed and can't get out until I release them, but she wasn't to know that and at least it got rid of her!
Idiot........... I dont think they would be laughing if the armed police were called and that shot thew dog dead.
