    PUPPY LOVE Thursday 13th November

.,PUPPY LOVE Thursday 13th November 10pm on BBC4

The show is set around Wirral-based dog training classes run by the formidable Nana V - a place "for all your dogging needs".A warm and energetic character-based comedy about owners' problems with their dogs and dogs' problems with their owners, Puppy Love focuses on the indubitable Nana V, and West Kirby altruist Naomi Singh who starts attending the puppy classes. The series charts the relationship between two very different women as they navigate their headstrong dogs, impossible teenage kids and their preoccupied husbands.Nana has a live-in ex-husband (her 'wasband') called Tony Fazackerley, whilst Naomi's husband is Ravi.

The BBC's Shane Allen says: "Puppy Love both celebrates and sends up the deeply held relationship between dogs and their owners. This is a real passion piece from Jo and Vicki who have yet again succeeded in creating a wonderful set of characters.",.……
Not sure what to expect but should be interesting .

I have to admit that the words "for all your dogging needs" gave me a giggle - but then maybe I have the wrong sort of mind...;)

Sorry to say I was disappointed with this programme. BUT 'The Secret Life of Dogs' which followed was very interesting, and provided (what we all know already) even more arguments which illustrate that dogs have developed a very special inter-species relationship.
I think that Barbara, @Pork1epe1 would have been interested in the research instigated by Adam Miklosi in Budapest, which showed that dogs are the only other species which are able to interpret the hand and eye direction signals used by humans.

Hopefully, some of this will provide more ammunition for those of us who believe that dogs should have no place in laboratories!

I've recorded it but not yet watched it - but my expectations aren't very high after reading that Carole was disappointed.

Mind you, I'm easily pleased, so I might enjoy it!

Was "The Secret Life of Dogs" a Nat Geo production? If it is then hopefully some time this winter I'll be able to see it on the Nat Geo Channel.

And you're quite right Carol, I'm very interested in the research of Adam Miklosi and his team at the University of Budapest. If you look on the "Family Dog Project" website you can read about the various projects and their findings. - there's one about visual communication, which is what I think you were referring to? Fascinating reading! At present they're doing an online survey to investigate the link between activity level, feeding and body condition. I've completed and submitted the questionnaire for both my dogs and it will be interesting to know the results.

@Pork1epe1 No I think it is a BBC production, and Yes, I think that would be the same research. BYW We must compare notes on 'Do As I Do' sometime.

I've finally got round to watching it. I enjoyed it too, and will definitely be watching the rest of the series.
