    Old habits die hard!

More than twenty five years ago, we had a hamster which loved red kidney beans. This evening, I yet again found myself automatically putting a few to one side for him.

Does anyone else find themselves doing something no longer relevant, just out of habit?

Cor Tina, you ain't 'arf posh! The only time I set dinner places is Christmas Day, The rest of the time I dollop food on the plates and everyone sits and eats in front of the telly.

    We're dead common.

Set dinner plates? I do not even have a dining table - come to think of it the only table I have is the little one my keyboard and monitor [and non-working pringer] sit. The PC sits on a shelf beside me.

So when I eat I tip the kepboard up on end so there is room for a plate! :D

No I wont allow anyone [accept me] to eat in front of telly, when we eat [unless on my own] I insist we eat in dinning room at table, no buts even made my foster teenagers to eat at table too when they use to come home with friends & looking for snacks.

I have a kitchen/ dining room but the only time I eat at the table is when I have visitors for a meal. I much prefer eating in the living room whilst watching TV. When I was staying with the family in the UK though, we ate at the dining room table which was always laid correctly.

Oh, I have to have a coffee table. Where else can I put all the stuff I might need immediately?

I can remember Saturday tea times. My father always had kippers or golden cutlets, and there was wrestling on the telly, with old ladies from the audience bashing the baddies with their handbags.

The kitchen table is a project work surface, desk, cat bed, place to sort laundry, and twice a week we actually eat food off of it. One habit I hold on to that comes to mind is cutting up an apple to eat into disks. So by the time I'm done there is a pile of apple disks and ends on the plate.

Why??? Because for many years I had little people underfoot. If You're going to share an apple with four or five other people you have to be creative in dividing it. Now it's just Callie sharing with me but I still cut up fruit like I always did.

Cannot get either here so I have forgotten what both taste like!

I actually do not remember Father having marmalade with his kippers [we mere children were not permitted kippers - just a sniff of them cooking] but I have a vivid memory of kippers with marmalade - maybe I read it somewhere?
