My poor old girl just doesn't know where to get with these fireworks.she's not overly distressed.but enough.there being let off at all hours round here.
We went on a 10 mile walk earlier [30 miles run for dogs as they were running to/fro] & when we got back my 6 dogs were either asleep or just relaxing plus I have Daps Plug ins in everywhere & have sprayed their bedding with Dap calming spray.
Luckily we only have fireworks here after a wedding, and then only a brief burst. My Angel Little One was terrified of all sudden noises after one of the wars, but Pereg seems OK. Maybe a wee bit startled but it is more thunder that bothers her. I mean she has always gotten used to the sirens and boom booms fairly quickly but she still gets a bit antsy with thunder and only just looks up and blinks at the sound of fireworks. I think that her reaction to thunder probably has more to do with change in atmospheric pressure for her though.

Hadn't seen you post about the Plug-ins when I did my earlier post - good to know you find them so useful. Re the fireworks, I was just opening the door last night to let the dogs out into the garden, when there was a huge bang - it made me jump, but the dogs didn't even seem to notice. I know what a nightmare it can be for people who have dogs who do react. A few years ago my friend's lab was so panic stricken he jumped over a fence and was missing all night. They were up all night walking the streets and woods looking for him - turns out he had spent the night in comfort, having been taken in by a Good Samaritan.
I think you're right about the change in atmospheric pressure - Gertie used to get into a terrible state during thunderstorms, but didn't react to fireworks or gunshots at all.
A lot of seizure dogs react to changes in atmospheric pressure - also full moons and all sorts of similar things. People on the Epi List will even post bad weather warnings just in case. Pereg is mostly fine but definitely is rather antsy with thunder - she hears if from way off even if it never comes close - and frequently it is never close enough for me to her it. She definitely does though..
