That was really interesting I would love to get my dogs DNA tested. Diva is a mix breed I was surprised because she looks full staffie. But when I got her papers when I sent off for them she came back as a staff X but don't know with what. Tiggs is a staff X and my vet thinks with a Great Dane , I would love to know.

I wonder how accurate these tests are. About 10 years ago Beverley Cuddy (Dogs Today) sent a sample of her Bearded Collie's DNA for testing. I can't remember all of the details, but Beardie did not appear amongst the breeds identified. The company's explanation was that the test had identified breeds which had been used in producing the Bearded Collie. Of course the service may have improved over time. I would be interested to know if anyone else has tested them.

I think they have improved if i had not seen Bruce's parents i would have got one because everyone thinks he is a Lab x and nobody can see husky.

TBH I also thought Bruce was a Lab cross and not a Springer x Husky - but he is gorgeous whatever he is! :007:

I do not think I would like to know what might be in Pereg's background - she is what she is and I love her for what she is - to me she is the most beautiful mutt in the world :049: [even though she is overweight at the moment  ]

No Chris, I wouldn't have suspected Bruce's Husky parent either. It has produced a handsome cross though, were the rest of the litter similar? It is strange how some crosses resemble both parents - like the Puggle - and others may show little of either parent, or even look like something quite different, as some of those on Vee's link do.
By testing them I meant submitting a sample from a dog of known parentage, and checking whether the result did prove to be correct.

The other puppy's were all similar and one had bright blue eyes Mum was a pure white Siberian husky and dad was a springer.

She used to be very playful but she is far happier now sitting by or more often flonking down by the open door watching the world [what there is of it here!] go by. She is only 5 years and 8 months old so still young, but I think her medication has slowed her down now. But she does have crazy half hours still, although more like ten minutes these days, when her toy boxes get tipped over and the bungalow is carpeted with her toys, to say nothing of the front yard! :D

And she refuses point blank to pick them up and put them back!

About 2 years ago when I was looking online at a rescue centre here in Hungary, I saw three Shar-Pei x Labrador puppies for adoption. Two of the puppies looked like pure bred yellow Labs but the third one was black and looked like a pure bred Shar-Pei complete with wrinkles!

My door opens outwards and I have a rope which is fixed on the hinge side of the door, goes across and clips onto hooks on both the frame and the door itself, so I can have it open just enough for Pereg to go out and come in [and it also enables me to look out as I sit just next to the door], or unhook it to open the door fully to go out myself or let someone in. I have a caribiner clip tied on the end, which hooks onto the door itself, and another one loose on the rope which hooks onto the door frame to keep it open. While the door is open, which is 90% of the day and evening [unless it is bucketing down with rain!] she is on a 12m tether fixed just on the wall just inside the door on the opposite side from the hinge side [on the right as you look at the photo below]

That way she cannot reach the pavement [my yard is not fenced] but has enough length to rush around outside plus get through most of the bungalow, so I always know where she is and that she is safe.

This is with the door open - but the rope and clips have been replaced since then so it does not so messy! Most of her tether was actually inside as she can reach to within a metre of the pavement.

To be fair,I'm not interested I'm DNA, I never got papers with my husky but then again I'm not interested in breeding or going anywhere further with my dogs. I can see I've got a whippet, a jack Russell and a husky and my eyes don't lie!:)

What a lovely looking dog he was. Some crosses turn out really glamorous don't they?
