Ilana - born on a tree Jemima - warm like a dove Jimena - one who has heard Keanna - gracious, merciful Kelila - tiara of laurel Matana - present [as in gift]
Interesting names. One of our students is called Jimena, and I've often wondered as to the origins of the name. Nice info
I am actually going through a list of names to find ones I like, discarding all that have a religious connotation or a not very pleasant meaning, and finding it absolutely fascinating. Incidentally, most, if not all, end in "a" which shows that it is a girl's name.
I always struggle with girl's names for some reason It was only thanks to re-watching Reservoir Dogs that I even came up with Mrs White I think we're due an Israeli name as we have Europe and India over-represented up 'til now
As I am only up to "M" I am sure I will find a few more for you! It is rather nice as all names have a meaning. @Azz - the accent is usually on the second syllable but on Matana every "a" is short with just a very slighly accented final "a".
Another six to confuse you! Migdalia - from a tower Na'ama - agreeable, lovely Nava - gorgeous Nitza - blooming flower Orli - light all around Rivka - one who ties and joins
Shiri - song of my life Shula [short for Shulamit] - peaceful Tamara - palm tree Tirza - she is my joy Yakira - dear, beloved Zahara - radiance
We have a dog that comes in a work and shes a rescue from spain. They called her chica! They tell me it means girl in spain
And I have the male version of Chica - Chico! It seemed a good name for a Chihuahua - it means (I think) small boy, but can also be used as a term of affection amongst older boys, meaning something like 'buddy.'
I think it's Fabiola as that's what folks have started calling her Our first Italian re-home, Hidalgo the Galgo
Haha! I often think that, too, when I see all these stunning shots of Italy or Finland or whichever beautiful place a lot of these lads and lasses end up settling!
It must be so rewarding for you - and I do not mean financially rewarding but - cannot think of the word - satisfactorily rewarding.
Yeah, it has only taken me 42 years to find my purpose in life, but now with this rescue and rehoming project, I think I'm there These dogs help me to appreciate my own life more than I help them, without a doubt. My frustrations, anxieties etc just seem silly nowadays when I see these happy chaps who ask for very little in life. I've learned a lot from them
