It depends on the time of year.... In winter we walk the streets, we have a few different routes we alternate. Now the lighter evenings are here we sometimes go round the farm track, or on the rugby field where Bailiie can play with her ball, or on the green which I call the "round-hill", or even into the dunes which are all on our doorstep. Bailiie loves all her walks and more often than not we always see other folk out too.

I love walking in wild places and seeing no-one, but as we live quite remotely I also try and take my dogs to a more populated beach or the woods to keep up with their socialisation.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to live on a 13,000 acre sporting estate in Scotland and for most of the year round I can walk wherever I wish on it. However, at this time of year the grouse and other ground-nesting birds are starting to nest, so I can walk on all the lower tracks but have to keep away from the hills and walking through the heather with the dogs.

This is a typical walk for me and the dogs ...

But within a short drive we also have forests and woodland

    And lovely sandy beaches
