As the weather had changed and I am now eating mostly salads instead of the usual winter casseroles/stews/spoon-stand-up-in soups, I have put the seasonings for those back in the larder cupboard and replenished my current favourite salad seasonings. Does anyone else have different summer and winter food seasonings, and what is your current favourite?
It's not really salad weather here and I don't put anything on salad anyway. My favourite seasonings are probably Ginger, Cumin and Chilli Whatever the weather.
For salads I make my own dressing - olive oil and lemon juice, with a bit of salt and pepper I love pretty much all seasonings and herbs - if it's natural, I am quite likely to at least give it a go
Cumin and Cajun...... are two I use all year round, Cajun on chicken and salmon, and Cumin is everything else, lasagne , shepherd pie soups and anything else I fancy .
For some reason I only like cumin when I cook beans and rice or lentils and rice. In the winter I use all sorts of herbs and spices - and garlic goes in just about everything! Tried something new recently and I am a bit hooked on it, for stir-frys, on poached fish, and now on salads. http://www.iherb.com/Coconut-Secret-Raw-Coconut-Aminos-Soy-Free-Seasoning-Sauce-8-fl-oz-237-ml/24098#p=1&oos=1&disc=0&lc=en-US&w=coconut seasonings&rc=96&sr=null&ic=1 Actually I am more than just a bit hooked! And last year I discovered this http://www.iherb.com/Eden-Foods-Ede...&lc=en-US&w=seasonings&rc=1440&sr=null&ic=261 There are quite a few more things new to me that I will no doubt be trying during the course of the next few months as well. As for salad oil, I use either EVOO or EV Coconut oil, and have recently changed from apple cider vinegar to raw coconut vinegar.
i dont eat salad. Im loving peri peri at the moment i cant get enough of it so lots of peri peri chicken wraps here
I guess it all depends on what you call salad, which is probably not what I do! I do love hot and very spicy things but unfortunately I have an ulcer which flares up at anything too hot or spicy.
I call most fruit and veg "YUK" im a bit weird with food. My mums blames her self as she was divorcing my dad when i was a toddler so if i said no she didnt have the energy to fight with me and would just let me leave it or make me what i wanted. Im the only fussy one my brothers were taught to eat what they were given and now will eat pretty much anything. I love spicy food but my husband doesnt hes all meat and 2 veg which is not my style atall.
I use a lot of different herbs in cooking, As for seasonings I prefer anything hot and spicey .... my favourite food is South African Indian which is slightly different to Indian, Indian! I'm not really a salad person as I'd rather have hot food, but when I do have a salad I'll nearly always have it with mayonnaise .... preferably home made.
