    Rescue Home Questionnaire

The Rescue Home I train in as a questionnaire with 10 simple questions on which we ask anyone looking to adopt a dog from us to fill in, here are 3 of the questions & the answers given by one person, should point out this person was looking at adopting a 2 year old Labrador

Question How often does a dog need feeding ?
    Answers When its hungry
Rescue Home was looking for answer of either once or twice a day

Question When should a dog be walked ?
    Answers When I got time
Rescue Home was looking for answers like once a day or 2-4 times a day

Question When on holiday who will look after your dog ?
Answer No one I will leave enough food/water down to last while we away.
Rescue Home was looking for answers like I will put dog in kennels or neighbour/relative will be looking after dog.

Neither to say the person was not allowed to adopt a dog from us

The funny thing is - there are people who do exactly that  I wonder how many actually - has the RSPCA done any research into it?

I don't hold much faith in the RSPCA - My sister inlaw's Ex husband managed to get a Rottweiler x GSD from them, even thou my sister inlaw told them he use to kick her small dog, 9 months down the line the poor Rottweiler x GSD was dead.

The RSPCA told me that the kitten I adopted from them many years ago was 8 weeks old. I had to call my vet out that evening as she seemed to be unable to eat, and he reckoned she was barely 4 weeks old - if that.

Sounds like the dog would be taking care of the owner rather than the other way round

Not sure but they didn't get to adopt the Labrador he's a beautiful black lab but a real handful, you can't take your eyes off him for 1 second when he's off the lead as he vanishes, I spent full hour looking for him once & the big sod was already back in his kennel, but it was dinner time & that's his favorite time of the day.

That is shocking but I too am not surprised. At least the applicants sealed the outcome by showing their true colours in replying honestly. Just think how many people must lie in the application forms to get a dog :009:

atleast your rescue asks questions. Phoebes mum is from rescue and my sister in law just walked in and 20 mins later walked out with a dog that had only been in rescue for a week and my sister in law had my 6 month old nephew with her and they had no idea if the dog was ok with kids as previous owners didnt have any. They didnt ask her anything about what she knew about dogs or anything. They knew nothing about the dog or my sister in law. They said she was spayed but as phoebe is here im going to say they were wrong about that. Thankfully zena turned out to be an amazing dog who was so gentle with my nephew but it could have ended up very different for zena or my family. No questions, no home check, no cooling off, just in and out home with a 55kg dog nobody knows nothing about

    Other questions on questionnaire are as followed;

Question: How long will dog be left on own
(we ask this as some dogs can't be left on own why others enjoy being on their own)

Question : Do you have children if so how old are they.

Question: Do you work if not do you have spare money each week
(we not bothered if you work or not just want to know you have money to feed the dog)

Question: Do you own any other dogs or any other pets including rodents

Question: Do you have a garden - is it secured
(We not bothered if only small yard as long as dog got somewhere to go toilet)

Question: Have you ever been turned down by other rescue homes:

Question: Have you or anyone living with you been convicted of abusing any type of animal.

The questions are there just to help us decide if you are suitable to adopt a dog.
Once the questionnaire been filled in & the manages say yes you adopt a dog, we then will do a home check & once that's been pass we invite you in to look around the kennels & hopefully pair you up with a dog suitable for you & your family, we will continue doing home checks for the next 2 years mainly to check on condition of the dog & to help out with any medical bills.

I was going to say "when they are asleep" but from the way my dog licks her lips when she is dreaming, I would not be sure of that!
