I decided I could do with a few new clothes for summer (I'm being optimistic that we'll get one) so thought I'd do an online order from Marks and Spencer. I find them fairly safe to order from as I know their sizing. Well, I struggled to find anything I liked at all. I ended up with some OK-but-not-exciting linen trousers and some tops and some very unalluring knickers! The only thing I saw that I really liked was a bomber jacket. I didn't need a new jacket, but I ordered it anyway because at least I'd then have something to look forward to! I can remember that a few years ago I would walk around M & S and see lots of things I liked and wished I could afford, but now I feel they'd have to pay me to wear most of their clothes.
M&S online keep changing their minds. One minute they do not supply overseas, the next minute they do - quoting overseas delivery charges. When I first inquired I received a Welcome email and a code for 15% off my first order, but when I put in an order I got the message "sorry but we are not supplying overseas orders at the moment - try again in a month or two".
I've just had a quick look, and if you can pop over to the USA, Australia or New Zealand they will deliver free if your order comes to more than £30! It looks as if they charge £15 for delivery to Israel. Seems a lot.
Janet I looked at M&S the other day and thought no wonder they are doing so badly . A couple of years ago they sent me a questionnaire to fill in , a waste of time because clearly nothing has improved. I said among other things they were trying to be all things to all people and best to concentrate on one market, young people would not buy there brand . Better to target the more mature woman.
....I don't want g strings but sensible underwear well made, neither do I want a nightdress above my bottom or some hideous tent of man made fiber. What I would like is a longer cotton t shirt nightie . I used to have a pale blue stripped one with an owl on the front which I loved but they only seem to make very short ones these days.
This is so true. They do need to sort themselves out. Very, very rarely they have something stylish that everyone likes. So they sell out. And don't replace it - so losing lots of potential sales. I always know I'm going to be disappointed when I go to a Branch or online - and yet, I keep going!
You mean they are doing overseas deliveries again? I do wish they would not keep changing their minds. SIGH As for £15 for delivery, when I originally enquired they said it was per order not per item. Yours also charges that, but that is for up to 12 items, with an additional £1 for each item above that number.
I find Bon Marche are great for t shirt type nighties, I needed some in a rush for hospital and they're cheap and cheerful. I used to use Matalan but they've gone a bit strappy for me.
Do you know I can't even remember the last time I thought to look in M&S for anything other than food.
Hi Shirley I have never heard of Bon Marche and see there is now one in Worcester but then I haven't been shopping in Worcester for about 5 years. I managed to get a cotton tee from Landsend but will bear them in mind thank you. .
I used to buy all of my underwear and a lot of my clothes from M&S when I lived in the UK and then South Africa until the SA M&S stopped making size 8 in women's clothes and as they only seemed to cater for ladies with enormous bottoms and boobs the size of watermelons I gave up shopping there. That was 8 years ago and the only thing I've bought since then were 4 mini pork pies!
Well I can't fault their service! I only placed the order late Sunday afternoon, and it looks as if it's going to be delivered today!
